The Devil CEO's Contract Wife novel Chapter 28

Chapter 28: Ruined Morning

I walked down the stairs to the living room with Loki in my arms. The little cutie hasn’t left my side since.

"Good morning!"

I froze when I saw Athena relaxing on the sofa.

"What are you doing here?" I asked sternly.

"What do you mean, what am I doing? This is my brother’s place, and I have access to it."

That explained her intrusion from yesterday and today. Ares was a private person, but I guess Athena was an exception.

I dropped Loki, and Athena came to him, but he hissed at her and scurried out.

That’s my boy!

"Ugh! Meanie!"

She straightened her spine and gave me her best smile.

"I was waiting for you to wake up. We should hang out."

"I’d rather throw myself off this building." I walked to the kitchen to make coffee.

"Oh, don’t be like that, we’re besties, aren’t we?"

"I think you really need to check your brain."

"Why should I do that?" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

I cast a look over my shoulder. "You’re clearly missing something."

"Alright, you’re releasing negative energy there, and it’s bad, bad, bad! It’s morning, and it should be all about positive energy."

My morning is ruined.

I switched on the coffee maker, trying my best to ignore her until she stood beside me, eating my personal space.

"Move!" I growled.

"You’d rather not hang out with me?"

"Yes!"

"But Victoria Dalton is an exception."

I froze.

"She seems to be your only friend in this city. Why is that?"

I breathed heavily through my nose. She’s looked into my personal life; she basically knows everything about me now. Add that to the top list of creepy.

"Leave her out of this," I said through clenched teeth.

"Relax, I’m not gonna hurt her or anything." She took my coffee and turned it into a cup, and sipped. "I just want to know everything about you."

"Now you have, stay away from me."

"You’re a King now, get used to the mirror over your life."

I clenched my teeth.

"How long?" she suddenly asked. "How long are you, Mrs. King?"

"I don’t know what you’re talking about."

"Oh, please, I know this marriage is a sham, but I don’t have proof yet, but I’ll eventually."

"Why don’t you just get over the fact that your brother is married?"

She laughed wildly. "Oh, darling, you don’t know a thing about him. You see, I don’t believe my brother would wake up one morning and put a ring on your finger." She eyed it and shifted her eyes back to me.

She would.
