A waiter dropped a decanter and a glass for me.
"I didn’t ask for this..."
He left without a word. I eyed the decanter and found something under. A card.
I grabbed it and found a writing with an all too familiar signature kiss.
I see you.
They are here. That was my first thought when I read the letters. My eyes scanned the place slowly but no one match my suspicions.
"What’s the matter? Did you get a card from a secret admirer?" Athena asked, amused.
"I don’t like dealing with the unknown."
"Ouch!" She giggled. "Now, shall we continue playing?"
I snapped my finger, and Nico came close and gave me his ear.
"Find that waiter."
"On it, Boss."
"So you’re back in the underworld, officially? I heard a rumor. There are bloodbaths caused by you... They are saying you’re wasting your supporters. I can’t tell if you’re making things worse or better." She checked her cards. "I sure hope you’re doing the right thing. Unless—"
We heard a fuss, and my eyes moved at speed. I was quick to catch the armed men and the bodies dropping.
"Get down!"
The music was cut off as the gunshots discharged.
My back pressed against the wall as I readied my gun, snapping the magazine into place and cocking the pistol.
I peeked, eyes scanning the chaos, my men were already dealing with the assailants, and bullets were flying everywhere. I found relief when I saw Athena secured under the table.
The gunshots became distant, and I found some of the masked men making their way upstairs.
Upstairs?
It hit me. They are not here for me.
I moved without hesitation, shooting two of the masked men who came after me. I ordered my men to keep still here while I made my way upstairs.
Three more were waiting, but I shot each of them on the head before they had the chance to react.
I heard quick footsteps behind me.
"Boss!" Nico rushed to my side.
"Are there any left?"
"A few escaped. We should get you to safety. The whole place is thrown off, and most of our men are down."
"They were not here for me..." I said, walking closer to a table where I saw broken glass, as if someone had tossed them. There was blood on the floor, too.
There was a fight here.
"Who were they here for?"
"Vixen," I replied.
My eyes caught something else on the table. I used the muzzle of my gun to pick up the lace. A glove.
Hearing the snappy sound of high heels, we turned to Athena, scuttling in, breathing heavily.
"You’re okay!" She pitched with a forced smile.
"Nico..."
"Yes, boss..."
"Escort my sister back home."
"What? We just got attacked, and you expect me to just walk away?"
"We weren’t the target."
She cleared her throat. "But shots were fired, we were just in the line of it. Seriously, I can’t play a damn game in peace! Who did you piss off this time?"
The correct question was: Who did Vixen pissed off?
Bam!

"There gotta be hundreds who wear this, but I’ll see what I can find. Women talk a lot when they are buried in wine. They might spill good things."
