[Music: You Put A Spell On Me By Austin Giorgio]
When we got back to the company, it was already dark. The day went by so quickly, yet so much happened. I still can’t keep up, and I’m more pressured at the thought of meeting Ares.
How wonderful, Catherine. You spent the entire day being pursued. Lied to your best friend. Dealt with unknown men, yet it only got worse when it came to Ares.
I sighed heavily as I walked through the half-empty ballpen; just a few staffers lingered and didn’t pay much attention to me. Thank God. I felt like I was a walking reality show in this company, and there were cameras at all angles seizing me up.
I’m exhausted, and my feet hurt from my heels. I so badly want to take them off, but I resist the urge, engaging further until I reach the executive suite, freezing when I see Ares standing by the door leading to his office.
He pinned me with his eyes, no playful amusement as earlier, just blank.
Uh-oh!
I instinctively took a step back
"Inside."
I flinched, noting his voice had gotten deeper.
"I um... took some time for a lunch break, and it’s late, so we should um—"
"Get inside."
My breathing hitched, and I moved before my brain could process anything. I stepped inside the office with him following behind.
It felt like an avalanche was inching closer to me, so I turned sharply and he snatched my neck, keeping me completely still, and for a moment I stopped breathing.
His silence was worse than ever, and it caused chills down my spine, as well as a thrill I couldn’t explain.
"I-I..." I found my voice, though faint and shaky. "I-I went to see Tori. Shouldn’t have left without notice."
Say something.
I mentally begged. This rattled me, and I wanted him to speak before my skin jumped out of my body.
"Ares..."
He released me, and that loss of his touch made me colder than his hands. He took a step back, hands in pocket.
"Take off your clothes."
I thought I heard wrong at first, but my mind told me I didn’t.
Taking a deep breath, I unbuttoned my blouse, slowly, just enough to get a reaction from him, but I got nothing, just his impassive eyes.
So after the last button, I stopped, my hands falling at my sides. He dragged his gaze back to mine, and I didn’t know when I resumed in haste.
I took off my blouse and tossed it at a corner, pulled down my skirt, and allowed it pool at my feet.
I was just in my black bra and panties set.
"Do you want this off, too?" I asked in a sassy tone.
He took me all in, slow and focused, and it seemed forever until his gaze was back to mine. The way he looked at me was quiet, yet there was a heavy undertone I couldn’t describe.
I can’t read him at all. I can’t even picture what goes on in that head of his.
Ares came to me, and I backed away until my butt pressed into the edge of the marble table. I gripped for support when he got close.
"Show me your wrist."
I shot him a questioning look, but complied either way. "Like this?" I asked slyly, doing my hands like a puppy.
I caught the corner of his lips twitching. A faint smile crossed my face as I showed my wrist.
Without breaking eye contact with me, he took off his tie and wrapped it around my wrist, tightly. Ow!
Seriously?

I’m beyond frustrated, and my ankles are killing me, so I kicked the godforsaken heels off, and my body hung on the table like a tablecloth. Great.
Is he going to just leave me like this?
When he dropped the last pile of papers, I sighed out a relief breath.
