The Devil CEO's Contract Wife novel Chapter 65

Chapter 65: Submission Is Addictive

[Music: Do It For Me By Rosenfeld]

I should be working, but here I was looking over this contract like it was my death certificate. It might as well be because signing this would feel like the other part of my soul has been sold.

At this point, I don’t deserve a soul, given the thoughts I have right now. I want this. I know I shouldn’t, and the best response was shoving this up Ares’ ass and telling him to go fuck himself. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

However, I’m a lost cause, because the number of times I have fantasized about submitting myself to Ares King was enough to earn me a trip to the nuthouse.

I sighed heavily, chest heavy and mind up as I looked over his medical records again. He was clean, and so was I, given the fact that I made a trip to the doctor after I ended things with Dan.

Nothing was standing in my way from signing this, and I’m shameless enough to admit that I have never been more enthusiastic about something.

I flipped and began reading the contract all over again for the fifteenth time, trying to remind myself that this was actually real. This puts fucking my boss into a whole new level. Nope...this was far more than that.

I let my eyes shift from my desk to Ares, deeply engrossed in his work, as he casually scrolled through his laptop. Work has been in full swing since I resumed, but Ares handled most of it.

It’s been comfortable hours of silence, and it was almost as if we both didn’t exist, but I’m past my breaking point.

I shut the portfolio and pushed to my feet, expecting Ares to look toward me as I neared his desk, but he didn’t, until I left the office and shut the door behind me.

I rested my back against it, trying to collect myself before I pushed off the door and made my way out of the executive suite.

Ares was having a meeting with the board in a few hours, so the least I could do was distract myself right now because all I could see and breathe was that contract on my desk. I’m basically obsessed with it at this point.

My phone vibrated, and I checked, expecting Tori’s message because she had been on my neck ever since, but the notification was from an unknown number. Frowning, I pushed open the glass doors leading to the conference room as I read the contents.

Unknown: Hey, it’s Theo.

Theo?

I set the files down as I typed a reply.

Me: How did you get my number?

The bubbles came up only to disappear and reappear a number of times before he finally sent me a reply.

Unknown: I got it from Gary. Don’t blame him, I begged him. I needed to make sure you were okay, that’s all.

Me: You should have asked me personally, rather than going behind my back.

Unknown: I’m sorry. I came back to check on you at the hospital, but I wasn’t allowed.

Wasn’t allowed? One word popped up in my mind. Ares. He really took his acting to another level.

Me: My husband was just being protective.

Unknown: I understand, who wouldn’t be when it’s you?

I raised an eyebrow. I dropped my phone, choosing not to reply as I set the papers for the meeting. After a few minutes, I was done, and when I turned to get the bottles of water, I froze when Ares stepped into the room, and suddenly, the air was sucked out.

I stood there like a deer in headlights as if I hadn’t spent half of the day with him.

"Twenty," he said out of the blue, a dark look in his eyes as if he had come to collect.

When he said nothing back to me, I realized what he meant, my mind flashing to the same word he told me sometime ago. Oh no.

"Bend."
