I shut my mouth instantly, feeling my pulse racing so fast until it felt like it would burst from my veins.

Ares rounded me like a predator stalking its prey. I felt his lips on my neck, his hot breath creating endless goosebumps, and then he kissed that spot, tasting my flesh, and my legs almost buckled from the pressure.

My fingers dug into my dress, my entire body screaming with raw need. Ares drove his lips, using his teeth to nibble the helix of my ear.

"Follow."

My eyes tracked his movement before I went after him.

I held my gown as I climbed the imperial staircase, my gaze pinned on his broad back. I pondered how he could walk composed in this situation, while it felt like I was chasing fire for life.

We got to a hallway with no light, only the soft moonlight streaming from the windows. I could barely make out my surroundings.

Ares was nowhere to be seen, but I could feel him watching me.

I opened my mouth to call for him, but his earlier words made me mute. I let my shoulders relax as I closed my eyes. The wind came through the windows, caressing my skin.

I heard footsteps getting louder and closer but I remained patient.

"I’m gonna have to reward you for that..." His voice was deep and soft.

I smiled as I opened my eyes and looked over my shoulder. Slowly, he came in front of me, tilting my chin to hold his gaze.

He memorized my face, and I did too, loving how darkly dangerous he looked in that mask, and the surroundings only added to the intrigue. It felt like he was the Beast and I was Beauty.

He freed me and walked to the left. I followed like I had been spellbound by him.

Ares waited for me at the doorway as I entered the room, the door shutting close.

I waited at the center of what looked like an office. I was too nervous to make out all the details, but the dim lighting from the chandelier made the atmosphere lighter.

"Turn around."

Licking my lips, I did as he commanded.

"One word only. Pick your safe word."

"Red."

A devilish smile stretched his lips. "Take off your panties."

I swallowed, keeping still.

"Take. Off. Your. Panties," he reprised, voice dark with warning.

I opened my mouth and shut it back up.

As if discerning something was off, he uttered. "Speak."

Ares’ hot, wet lips moved to the corner of my mouth, tracing down with licks and nibbling, sucking against my neck.

I couldn’t take my eyes off the mirror as Ares continued his advances, and it got hotter and hotter until I was gasping for breath, the sparks flying through my veins.
