Chapter 142
Marcus’s head throbbed as a high-pitched ringing filled his ears. He tried to open his eyes, but they were heavy at first, so he had to do it slowly… very slowly.
As he did, light flooded in and blinded him for a moment. Everything was blurry. Then, little by little, shapes began to emerge and corne into focus.
A soft voice pierced through the haze beside him. “Marcus? Are you okay? Marcus, are you hearing me?”
The words anchored him. He blinked hard, forcing his vision to sharpen. White walls, fluorescent lights, the faint smell of antiseptic and clean linen. He was in a hospital room, lying on a crisp hospital bed with monitors beeping steadily around him.
Doctors in white coats hovered nearby, checking IV lines and reading charts. And right beside him sat Natalie, her face etched with worry, eyes red-rimmed from lack of sleep.
He groaned, instinctively trying to push himself up. Pain lanced through his body, but he kept moving until Natalie’s hands pressed firmly against his shoulders. “No,” she said gently but insistently, “you have to rest. You can’t stand up for now.”
Marcus threw his head back against the pillow. “Fuck,” he muttered.
A dull ache pulsed in his leg. He reached down tentatively, fingers brushing against thick bandages wrapped tightly around his calf and thigh.
The memory crashed over him then-the brutal fight with Six. The way the man had deal with him. The reason he was here.
“You are going to be fine,” Natalie said, squeezing his hand. Her voice was steady, but the worry lingered in her
eyes.
“The bracelet is working. It’s repairing your body on its own. The doctors said your fractured leg is healing at an incredible rate-faster than they have ever seen. completely stunned. They don’t know what to make of it.”
Marcus sighed heavily, lifting a hand to press against his throbbing temple. He felt incompetent, small.
“He is stronger than me,” he said quietly. “His power… it’s very stronger than mine.”
Natalie shook her head, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead. “It’s okay. It’s normal. You have only just discovered this power. You can’t compare yourself to someone who’s been honing and training it for who knows how long.”
“Fuck,” he muttered again, the frustration clear in his tone. He shifted slightly, wincing at the pull in his leg, then looked back at her. “What about the residents? Are they save”
She gave him a reassuring nod. “I already alerted the neighboring police officers and deployed some soldiers to the area. They’re securing the perimeter and checking on everyone. So, they dare don’t return again, at least for the time being..”
“But, The thugs had already left, before we arrived, so couldn’t find anything to connect it to Wang Entertainment. And they are also denying any involvement”.
Marcus frowned. “You’ve found out who Wang Entertainment really is?”
“Yes,” Natalie replied. “But we haven’t seen the owner yet. We’ve located the company and met with their lawyer. Actually, I’ve already mobilized the army to attack them and take revenge for what they did to you. We were just

waiting for you to wake up so you could give the order.”
Marcus nodded slowly. “Don’t attack them. Not yet. Wang Entertainment is more than you thought.” He took a deep breath and told her about the cultivator he had fought-the man who was one of the assassins behind their father’s first assassination attempt.
Natalie leaned in closer, her eyes widening. “What the fuck? Does that mean he’s literally one of the people who killed Dad?”
Marcus nodded. “Yes, definitely. And I’m sure the Wang CEO is the one they’re working for. We can’t attack ther blindly.”
Natalie felt a surge of boiling anger rush through her. The need for revenge burned hot in her chest, urging her to strike back immediately. But just as Marcus had said, they had to be careful. These cultivators were clearly far stronger than they had anticipated. If just one of them had put Marcus in this hospital bed, rushing in unprepared could end in disaster.

Meanwhile, inside Master Jace’s dimly lit private room, tension hung thick in the air. The leader of the thugs stood before him, shifting uncomfortably as he delivered his report.
“Boss, the army is already surrounding the area,” he said. “We can’t just go in there right now. They’ve set up checkpoints and patrols everywhere.”
Master Jace’s eyes narrowed in surprise. He leaned forward in his ornate chair, fingers drumming against the wooden armrest. “How did the army get involved so quickly?”
The thug leader shook his head, unsure. Before he could respond, Six chimed in,
“Maybe the man I fought wasn’t an ordinary civilian,” Six chimed in. “He must have some serious influence to pull the army in this fast.”
Master Jace frowned deeply, his sharp gaze locking onto Six. “You’re right. But who the heck is he?” He paused, then added, “And you said he’s even a cultivator?”
Six nodded, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Don’t worry about him too much. He was just a kid who got lucky with some cultivation technique and wanted to play hero. I already dealt with him. He’s weak-nothing we can’t handle if he shows up again. for the Army, you can solve that”
“You are probably right,” Master Jace said slowly, though his expression showed lingering doubt. “Still… I want to know more. Find out exactly who he is. Dig into his background,”
