Travis knew he was defeated as sweat started coming down from his face. He was given last chance to

make another call. Yet switched off.

Marcus turned slowly to face the crowd, calm and composed. “Right. We had our bet. And he must bark.”

Travis snapped, anger rushing to cover his fear. “Are you deaf? Don’t you see the call isn’t going through? This makes the bet null!!! I am not barking.”

Marcus looked at him without emotion. “We had our bet. You were the one shouting that if you did not turn this around you would bark. Now you are hiding behind a call that did not go through.”

A murmur spread through the people.

“Yes, he is right.”

“He has no one to call.”

“He is definitely lying.”

The were no longer praising him. They were mocking him instead.

Jessica felt the heat of shame crawl up her neck. Her voice came out tight as she forced herself to stand beside Travis. “The phone is switched off. We should not drag this. Nobody is barking. The request was ridiculous from the beginning.”

Travis nodded quickly. “I am not even lying.”

But the crowd had already made up their minds. And keep mocking him.

“Bluffer.”

“Big talker.”

“Empty mouth.”

Jessica’s face hardened. The embarrassment was now too much for her to bear. She grabbed Travis’s arm firmly.

“Let us just leave.”

Travis was so angry and stated, “laugh all you want Marcus. That doesn’t make you and your pathetic friend rich. You are still as poor as fuck”.

Jessica shouted at him. “It’s okay Travis!!!. Let’s leave”

Damien, who was very satisfied by this, laughed as they walked out, “Who knows if the invitation was real. A pathetic liar”.

Marcus laughed at this, same as everyone. Jessica was very angry about this and turned to Damien.

Just as she expected. Damien’s face changed drastically. She smirked at this.

At that moment, however, Damien’s phone rang.

He glanced at the screen, confused, then answered. His expression shifted from caution to disbelief as

he listened.

“Yes… this is Damien speaking… Tomorrow? Report where?”

His eyes widened.

“The Waterfall Grand Hotel?”

Damien shouted from behind, unable to contain himself. “What? Lobby manager?”

Damien stood frozen, shocked and speechless. He slowly turned to look at the restaurant manager, who was already nodding with a faint smile.

“It seems one of the customers you impressed made a recommendation for you,” the manager said.” You are now the lobby manager at the Waterfall Grand Hotel.”

Damien almost lost his balance. He could not remember any special customer. He had always treated everyone with simple kindness and respect. Maybe this was the reward for that.

“What the hell. I can’t believe this is happening. A lobby manager in waterfall grand hotel! That is huge. Haas” He screamed loudly that his throat could cut.

Marcus the master behind it stood quietly beside him with a small smile.

Jessica and Travis’s expressions turned even uglier as they heard this.

“How is this even possible?” Jessica muttered.

Damien shook his head slowly. “I cannot believe this. Some moments ago you were flexing your power over me. Now you are the one being sent away while I just got promoted. What a karma!!!.”

Jessica could not stand there any longer. She turned and walked away without another word.

Marcus watched her leave.

Damien was still overwhelmed. He turned to Marcus, almost laughing from shock. “This is unbelievable.”

The manager stepped forward again. “I apologize for my behavior earlier. She is a VVIP customer and I was scared. Please, you can order anything you want. It will be on me.”

“Really?” Damien asked.

He turned and hugged Marcus tightly, still smiling in disbelief.

Marcus finished his meal with Damien and prepared to return home. Damien, still excited from the good news, suggested they go to a bar for another drink, but Marcus declined and said he had to report to school the next day.

“School?” Damien asked in surprise.

Marcus nodded. “Yes. I want to return and complete my Business Administration ethics course. I left it halfway.”

Damien nodded but then he frowned slightly. “That will be expensive. You will be in the adult section. And you know how crazy costly it is”

“I will be fine,” Marcus replied calmly.

Damien smiled. “Well, I am now a big hotel lobby manager. Call me if you need anything.”
