Chapter 16
Julia Brown was everything a man could want in a woman-sexy, beautiful, and effortlessly confident. She had a very good command of speech.
Julia and Marcus had attended the same university back then. She had a very intense crush on Marcus. She loved him deeply, but Marcus didn’t even bat an eye, his attention entirely devoted to Jessica at the
time.
“What the heck are you blind?”
“Julia has it all-why are you choosing Jessica over her?”
Daimen and some of his friends would tease him like this because Julia was far prettier than Jessica, kinder, and more polite. But Marcus naturally loved Jessica. Some even believed he had chosen Jessica simply because she was wealthier.
The class was ready to begin, and everyone was grinning. Then julia began.
“We will start with today’s lec-” she couldn’t finish, her eyes falling on Marcus. She was stunned to see him there-her old crush, now one of her students.
Everyone was surprised by this, but she immediately maintained her composure and coughed.
“Sorry… so we’ll begin with today’s lecture,” she said.
Then she continued, “Before we move on, I would like to ask questions about our last class-Opportunity Cost. Can someone give me the definition I gave you last class?”
The class went silent, like some kind of mortuary. They all looked around nervously. No one stepped forward; obviously, they didn’t know.
Julia sighed in frustration. Every class it was like this. Though many students were in her class, they barely listened; all they cared about was her body.
Seeing no one raise their hand, she sighed again, then decided to tease Marcus-even though she knew he hadn’t attended the last class.
“You there, explain to us,” she pointed at Marcus. He started, eyes wide. Julia gave him a sly smile. “Yes, you.”
The class turned to him.
“Ugh, who is he? I’ve never seen him.”
“Look at his dress-he’s just a commoner, a poor man.”
“I bet he doesn’t know it. We’ll make fun of him.”
Slowly, Marcus stood up to answer. Even though it had been a long time since he studied it, he was very smart. As soon as he heard the word opportunity cost, everything flooded back to him.

He explained smoothly.
“Opportunity cost is the value of the next best alternative that you give up when you make a choice. In business, every decision-like investing in a project, launching a product, or allocating resources- means you can’t use those resources for something else. Understanding opportunity cost helps managers make better decisions by weighing not just what they gain, but what they lose by not choosing the alternative”.
“Wow.”
Julia smiled. “Yes! That’s correct. Excellent! What a nice thing to finally have a handsome, intelligent
man with us. Let’s clap for him!”
Only the ladies in the class clapped. The boys was furious at how she praised Marcus. Even though Julia was known as an unapproachable, icy goddess-cold and distant to almost everyone-many male students still tried to get close to her because of her extraordinary beauty. Yet here she was, smiling at
this newcomer.
The class went on. After three hours of perfectly explained lessons, it ended. As she was about to leave,
she said,
“Welcome, newcomer,” she smiled at Marcus again before finally leaving the classroom.
“Who the fuck is that guy? Why is my Julia smiling at him?”
The speaker was Jordan Fisher. Jordan was Julia’s most devoted pursuer. He often flaunted his family’s business ties with the Edward Langston family and was a brat.
“I will really fuck him up! No one dares get close to my queen!” he growled.
As everyone was leaving and Marcus was on his way out, Jordan and his gang crossed Marcus’s path.
“What the heck is your relationship with Ms. Julia, you fucker?”
Marcus just stared and said nothing. He turned to leave, but another man blocked him.
“HEY loser, do you know who he is? Jordan Fisher. His father’s a big sponsor of this university. Step on his nerves, and you will be expelled. So answer his question.”
“Why the fuck should I answer your question?” Marcus snapped, eyes blazing. “I don’t even give a shit who you are. For your information, do you know who I am?”
Jordan’s face twisted with anger, and just as he opened his mouth to fire back, two massive men stepped forward behind him. His lackeys. Each one a mountain of muscle, shadows stretching across the floor. Jordan smirked, swaggering, eyes scanning Marcus up and down.
“What the hell are you?” he sneered. “Look at you… dressed like a street beggar, acting all high and mighty with the cheapest clothes here. My father is a close friend to the richest man in this city. Edward Langston. something your next ten generation can never achieve ”

Marcus just smiled. He was literally boasting with his own father.
“So. you better answer my question!”
Marcus calmly replied. “Why were you asking about my relationship with her? Are you jealous that she praised me just because I answered a question? Your insecure ass shouldn’t have an empty brain then, because you should have answered the question, not me.”
A hush fell over the hallway. No one had ever spoken to Jordan Fisher like that. His face turned red, a mix of fury and disbelief.
