The Disguised Billionaire She Rejected novel Chapter 150

Chapter 150

Jessica spotted the both of them from afar, she wondered what they could be arguing about, so she walked closer to them.

Travis spotted her first, and something in his chest tightened. He straightened up fast, brushing beer off his sleeve and put on that performative pity face.

“Travis, what happened?” she asked, arriving breathless, her eyes flicking between the shattered glass and the two men standing stiff with tension.

Travis didn’t waste a second. “Marcus bumped into me,” he said quickly, pointing at the mess on the floor. “The beer just slipped out of my hand and broke. And instead of saying sorry, he pulled out his wallet like he was trying to insult me, like he could just throw money at it and walk away.”

Jessica’s frown deepened as she turned to Marcus. “Is that true?” she asked, her voice sharpening with every word. “How can you be so cruel? Just because you have a little money now doesn’t mean you can look down on people. You knock into someone, all you have to do is apologize, and instead you’re flaunting cash like you’re trying to prove something. You know, people already say you are nothing but a gold digger, your name is already everywhere.”

Marcus’s jaw clenched as he looked at her, disbelief written across his face. “You always do this,” he said, his voice low but sharp. “Whatever he tells you, you just believe it. You don’t even want to hear my side.”

“Marcus, you always blow things out of proportion,” Jessica shot back, crossing her arms. “The bottle is broken right there on the floor, and you’re the one who pulled out your wallet. That matches exactly what he told me, so I have no reason to think otherwise.”

“That is not what happened,” Marcus snapped, his composure slipping. “He’s the one who bumped into me!” His voice rose, drawing more eyes from nearby tables.

Travis let out a short, mocking laugh. “Act like a baby, why don’t you,” he muttered, shaking his head before turning to Jessica. “Let’s just leave. I don’t want any trouble with him again. Every time we cross paths it turns into an argument, and I’m tired of it.”

Jessica ignored him for a moment, her gaze fixed on Marcus, disappointment settling into her expression like something old and familiar. “Every single day you find a new way to let me down,” she said quietly. “And every time, you give me one more reason not to take you back. Look at what you’ve become, Marcus. Chasing after women for their money, and now you’re rude on top of it, lying to my face of what’s clear and denying it.” She shook her head slowly. “Just apologize. It’s not some huge, difficult thing to do.”

Marcus scoffed, crossing his arms tighter. “Well, I am not going to apologize for something I didn’t do.” He shoved his wallet back into his pocket. “And I am not paying either.” He turned as if to walk away, done with the whole conversation.

That only made Jessica angrier. She stepped in front of him, blocking his path. “Well, you can’t do neither. Either you pay for what you did, or you apologize. I know you have the money. Ms. Natalie gives you an allowance anyway, so pay for it.”

Marcus turned back to her, eyes narrowing. “I should be the one demanding an apology for the damage, since he’s the one who bumped into me. So listen carefully. I am never paying, and I am never apologizing.”

Travis threw his hands up like he’d heard enough. “Jessica, let’s just leave. He’s horrible. And you don’t even have to consider reconciling with him again. He’s exactly the kind of man people already talk about, the one with all these different women.”

Jessica nodded slowly, agreeing. “He’s right.” Then she softened, stepping closer to Marcus despite everything she’d just said. “But look, let me be frank with you, Marcus. I still love you. I swear I do, and I am still willing to take you back, if you can just drop all of this.”

Travis felt his blood boil hearing that, his jaw tightening as he looked away.

Marcus let out a bitter laugh. “If you were the last woman on earth, I would rather die single.” He shook his head. “You want me back, but you still let Travis hang around you everywhere you go. You want me back for what? For emotional support, while you’re out here practically raising someone young enough to be your brother?” His mind flashed back to the day he’d waited outside the marriage registration office, and the message Travis had sent, the bedroom picture that had ended everything between them.

Jessica scoffed, folding her arms. “You are still stuck on that? So you’re just insecure and delusional.” Her voice rose. “Nothing happened between me and Travis. God forbid. He is like a brother to me, and he is going to keep being around me. Live with that.”

Travis stood there seething quietly, the words hitting him harder than he let show. Jessica had just brother-zoned him again, right in front of everyone, after everything he’d done to try to make her see him differently.

Then, from behind them, a voice cut through the tension.

“MARCUS.”

They all turned. It was Natalie, the woman Marcus had actually come to meet that evening. She approached with quick steps, her eyes moving between the broken glass, Travis, and Jessica, sensing immediately that she’d walked into something.

“What’s happening?” Natalie asked, looking at Marcus.

“Nothing,” Marcus said quickly, waving it off. “Let’s just go.”
