Chapter 194
Marcus let out a quiet sigh before looking at Cory.
He no longer had the patience to entertain meaningless arguments.
Without another word, he gestured toward the banquet hall. “Please come in.”
A smug smile spread across Cory’s face.
He walked inside alongside Mrs. Leah while Marcus calmly led them through the elegantly decorated hall before stopping at one of the reserved VIP tables.
“This is your table.”
Marcus politely pulled out their chairs before stepping back. “If there’s anything you need during the event, please let me know.”
Mrs. Leah looked at him with open disdain. “I’ve never seen someone this shameless,” she scoffed. “After everything we said, you’re still standing there smiling. Do you have no self-respect at all?”
Marcus didn’t respond. Meanwhile, Cory had arrived at a similar conclusion. He looked at Marcus for a few seconds before shaking his head with a faint laugh. He totally believed Marcus was a very low life bastard.
After taking his seat, Cory casually crossed one leg over the other.
“I’d like a bottle of Château d’Yquem 1811.”
Marcus immediately recognized the name.
It was one of the rarest wines in Langstone’s private collection, reserved exclusively for the company’s highest- level strategic partners.
He gave an apologetic smile.
“I’m sorry, sir. That particular wine is only available to our highest-tier VIP guests.”
Cory simply smiled.
“Really?” He leaned back comfortably before replying, “Then perhaps you should verify whether I qualify.”
Marcus nodded.
“Certainly. May I have your name?”
“Cory Harrison.”
Marcus walked to the registration terminal and entered the name into the company’s guest database.
A moment later, the screen displayed the result.
Strategic Partner – Platinum VIP Access.
Marcus looked back at Cory. “My apologies, Mr. Harrison. You are indeed eligible. I will bring the wine immediately.”
A few minutes later, Marcus returned carrying the antique bottle with great care.
He professionally presented the label, uncorked it, poured the wine into Cory’s crystal glass, and placed the bottle gently on the table.
“If you need anything else, please let me know.”
Mrs. Leah couldn’t hide the pride on her face.
She glanced at Marcus before saying coldly, “You see? This is the difference between a truly capable mean and someone like you. He is a vip to the Almighty Langston Empire. let that sink into your skull”
Marcus simply nodded and walked away.
Not long afterward, the appreciation ceremony officially began.
Elegant music echoed through the hall as guests chatted happily while waiting for Langstone’s executives to begin their speeches.
Everything appeared perfectly normal.
Then- A furious shout suddenly echoed throughout the banquet hall.
“What the hell!”
The lively conversations instantly stopped. Every guest turned toward the source of the voice.
Cory had abruptly risen from his chair, his face filled with rage. He held up the wine bottle before glaring directly at Marcus.
“You bastard!” His furious voice echoed through the hall.
“How dare you try to kill me!”
A wave of shock swept through the banquet.
