Chapter 46

The manager crossed his arms with a smug sneer. “I just told you-this seat is reserved. Leave now.”

Julia’s eyes flashed with anger. “But you should just tell us to move to another seat! Why are you forcing us to leave entirely? This is ridiculous.”

The manager smirked arrogantly. “I am the manager of this place. I can do whatever I want.”

Just then, a voice cut through from behind them. “What is happening here?”

They turned to see Jordan standing there, hands in his pockets, wearing a carefully rehearsed look of

concern.

Julia sighed in deep frustration. “Jordan…”

Jordan stepped closer. “Sorry for interrupting, but why are you shouting at them?”

The manager immediately bowed slightly. “Sir, I want them to leave.”

Jordan shook his head firmly. “No, you shouldn’t do that!” He turned to Julia with a soft expression. “If you don’t mind, I can move you both to the VIP section. It’s much quieter and more comfortable.”

Julia frowned deeply. She suspected there jordan was up to something, so she inquired. “Jordan, what are you up to this time?”

Jordan raised his hands innocently. “Take this as my way of apologizing. You know… I realize what I did was bad. I should never have acted that way. I have treated my hand, I won’t report Marcus to the police station anymore. All I want is for you to help get me back into school.”

Julia gazed at him warily. He sounded sincere, almost broken, but she knew Jordan too well. Someone like him didn’t break down so easily. “I can’t get you back to school. Talk to the director yourself.”

Jordan pleaded, “You can help me talk to him. He’ll reconsider if it’s you. Please, Julia.” He then turned to Marcus, eyes lowered. “And please, Marcus… I’m sorry for my actions. Let’s just move to the VIP section and save you from this embarrassment.”

Julia shook her head. “I’m not going to any VIP section. Thanks. Marcus, let’s leave.”

She angrily stood up, grabbing her bag. Jordan’s face twisted with barely contained rage-she hadn’t even agreed to plead for him. As they turned to go, he suddenly grabbed her wrist tightly. “Julia! Why are you being this cruel to me?”

Marcus stepped forward with a stern face. “Let her go.”

Remembering how Marcus had broken his fingers last time, Jordan released her wrist instantly, stepping back with a scowl.

Just as they were about to leave, the manager-who had long colluded with Jordan to stage this “savior” moment-decided to escalate. He deliberately knocked one of the expensive plates off the table. It

smashed loudly on the ground, porcelain scattering everywhere.

The manager shouted dramatically, “What the heck, man! How dare you break such an expensive plate!”

Marcus turned to him, surprised by the false accusation. “What plate? I didn’t touch anything.”

“Don’t you dare play innocent!” the manager barked. “You knocked the plates off the table! How can you

be so uncultured?”

Julia scoffed. “What are you saying? I didn’t see him knocking anything off.”

Jordan chimed in immediately, voice dripping with fake concern. “Well, I saw him. He knocked it off.”

Marcus scoffed. “You saw me?”

Jordan nodded with fake confidence. “Yeah, I saw you.”

The manager crossed his arms triumphantly. “You see? I’m not lying.”

At that moment, Julia knew without doubt that Jordan and the manager were working together. She narrowed her eyes.

“This how you lied about seeing him steal the ring the other time, Jordan. I’m sure you are doing the same thing this time around too.”

The manager ignored her and pointed aggressively at Marcus. “You better pay 100,000 dollars right now for compensation. And I’ll let you go without involving the police.”

Marcus scoffed again, his voice cold and steady. “Why should I pay for something I didn’t do? You are still lying. Aside from you and Jordan, who saw that I broke a plate?”

The commotion had already attracted other diners. A small crowd was closing in, murmuring and watching the scene with interest.

The manager turned sharply to two staff members standing nearby. “You saw him breaking the plate, right? You saw him!”

The staff hesitated. They hadn’t seen anything and wanted to say no, but the manager’s face twisted with a clear warning glare. They knew that look-it was inherently threatening. Their jobs were on the line. Reluctantly, they nodded. “Yes… yes, we saw him knocking the plates off.”

The manager smiled smugly. “Now you’re saying four witnesses lied?”

Julia scoffed loudly. “You intimidated them! Why are you doing this?”

Jordan chimed in smoothly, his tone dripping with false sympathy. “That money must be a lot for you, right? You can’t pay it, that’s why you’re denying it. Well, I can pay for it… if you both agree to get me back into school. And of course, Julia and I should have dinner together tonight.”
