The Disguised Billionaire She Rejected novel Chapter 72

Chapter 72

Meanwhile, Julia and Marcus finally stepped out of the hall after the banquet ended. The cool night breeze brushed against them as they walked toward the parking lot together.

Julia looked extremely happy.

“It was such a good experience,” she said excitedly. “I got the opportunity to meet so many important people tonight, and I was able to connect well with them.”

Marcus smiled faintly as he listened to her.

Though Marcus had secretly spoken to some of the businessmen beforehand and influenced them to pay attention to Julia, she had no idea about it.

Julia hugged her purse tightly and smiled brightly. “If I manage these connections well, it could completely change my life.”

Marcus nodded. “Sure, it can.”

Julia turned to him gratefully. “Honestly, what would I have done without you? Thanks so much for today.”

Marcus stared at her for a moment before looking away with a small smile. “It’s nothing.”

After a brief silence, he asked softly, “Will you be okay? Your mother will probably still be angry about everything that happened today.”

Julia scoffed lightly. “I’ll deal with it somehow.”

Marcus nodded slowly.

With that, the two of them bid each other farewell and prepared to head home.

Marcus stood there quietly, watching as Julia entered her car and drove away.

A soft smile appeared on his face.

“How I wish this was real,” he muttered to himself. “Should I just tell her how I feel?”

At that exact moment, his phone suddenly rang.

Marcus frowned slightly when he saw an unknown number on the screen, but he still answered it.

“Hello, who is this?”

A screeching female voice immediately sounded from the phone.

“Your girlfriend is here drunk. You should come and pick her up.”

Marcus frowned deeper. “My girlfriend? Who?”

“I don’t know,” the woman replied impatiently. “She’s causing nonsense here. I found your number saved as ‘My Love,’ so that’s why I called.”

Marcus was still trying to figure out who it could be when a familiar drunken voice suddenly shrieked loudly from the background.

“Madam! Give me my phooone… or do you also want to collect my babe from me?!”

Marcus instantly sighed in frustration as he recognized Jessica’s voice.

Marcus frowned and said coldly, “Sorry, but she isn’t my girlfriend anymore. We broke up. I have nothing

to do with this.”

The woman on the phone clicked her tongue. “Unless you’re heartless, you must be Marcus, right?”

“Yes,” Marcus replied impatiently. “What does that have to do with anything?”

“She has been repeating your name nonstop,” the woman explained. “Talking about how much she loves you. Besides, she’s too drunk to drive herself home.”

Marcus rubbed his forehead tiredly. “That’s none of my business.”

The woman immediately snapped back, “It’s already midnight. So you want a drunk woman wandering around alone when she clearly needs help? If something happens to her, it’ll be your fault.”

Marcus sighed heavily.

This woman really knew how to guilt-trip someone.

He honestly didn’t want to get involved, but deep down, he knew she was right.

“Fine,” he muttered reluctantly. “Give me the address.”

“Thank you,” the woman said quickly before telling him the location.

After ending the call, Marcus sighed again before stopping a taxi and heading straight to the bar.

The moment he arrived, loud music and drunken laughter filled the air.

Marcus scanned the place until his eyes landed on Jessica.

She was still drinking heavily while three drunk men sat closely around her.

One of them was even trying to touch her chest.

Jessica weakly pushed him away while mumbling drunkenly, “Leave me alone…”

The female bartender angrily shouted, “What’s wrong with you people?! Why are you touching a vulnerable woman?”

The men only smirked arrogantly.

“She wants to be touched,” one of them laughed. “If not, why get this drunk?”

The other man reached for Jessica’s breast again.

But before his hand could touch her-

A strong grip suddenly caught his wrist midair.

“Ugh! Who the hell are you?!”

The man turned angrily toward the person holding him.

It was Marcus.

Marcus’s expression was terrifyingly cold and was disgusted by this. Even if he wasn’t on terms with Jessica. He can’t let this disgusting act go unpunished.

“Let go of me now!” the drunk man barked.

Instead of releasing him, Marcus twisted his wrist violently.

Crack!

“YAAAHHH!”

The man screamed loudly as his fingers bent unnaturally.

“My fingers!” he cried in agony.

The other two men immediately rushed toward Marcus in anger.

But within a few minutes, Marcus completely beat them into a miserable state.

One crashed against a table while another fell heavily to the floor with a bloody nose. They didn’t even deliver a punch.

The men stared at Marcus in shock and fear.
