Tracy glanced toward the group and shook her head. “No need. If one truly has the skill, there’s no need to cling to anyone. If you’re all show and no substance, you could talk until your voice gives out, and it wouldn’t make a difference.”

She trusted Waylon’s integrity. Although she hadn’t met him before, she had heard about his history. He was absolutely not the type to fear power or act dishonestly. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gone to such lengths to create a competitive bidding process to silence critics.

Hearing Tracy’s response, Felix felt even more strongly that she was an extraordinary person, and his appreciation for her increased. She was highly skilled yet unflashy, indifferent to fame, and unwilling to fight for attention. Tracy’s reaction was genuinely surprising to him.
