Chapter 263 The Contract

Finished

Tracy didn’t push him. She simply gave Morgan the visiting hours for the ICU and left. She knew her uncle needed to reach that conclusion on his own; if she prodded too hard, it would only backfire.

She had a gala to attend tonight. It was a birthday celebration for the patriarch of the Quinn family. Felix had sent out the invitations weeks ago, making it clear their presence was mandatory.

Vector Tech had taken a massive hit recently due to the federal investigation. Client after client had jumped ship, terrified of being tied to a scandal. Only Felix Quinn had stood firm, extending an olive branch when everyone else was cutting ties.

The day Felix walked into Vector Tech with the contract in hand, the entire office went into shock, including Tracy.

Since the partnership with the Johnson Corp remained confidential, no one saw this coming. For the Quinn Corp to publicly side with Vector Tech in such a loud, confident way was more than just a business move; it was a lifeline.

Tracy met Felix in the lobby, greeting him with a firm handshake. “Mr. Quinn,

hank you for coming personally. Sam is away on business in Cloudtopia, so I’ll be handling things today.”

Felix offered a warm, easy smile. “The pleasure is mine, Ms. Xander. Partnering with Vector Tech is a win for us. I brought the contracts. Take a look, and if everything is in order, we can make it official.”

His assistant handed over the documents. They were already signed and sealed on his end.

Tracy scanned the pages, a look of surprise crossing her face. “You knew I was a shareholder? That I had the authority to sign for the firm?”

Up until now, everyone assumed she was just a senior engineer. Felix was the first person to address her by the title she’d kept hidden.

Felix just gave her a knowing look. “If you’re happy with the terms, let’s get it

done.”

Tracy finished her review, found everything perfect, and signed her name. She extended her hand again. “To a successful partnership.”

Across town, Yvonne was mid-code when she got the news that Tracy was still alive. She snapped her pen in half, the jagged plastic digging into her palm.

The logic of her program dissolved into a mess in her mind. She had paid for two hits, and yet the woman wouldn’t stay dead. How much luck could one person possibly have?

What Yvonne didn’t know was that her professional hitmen were actually a pack of low-level street thugs Quincy had found to pocket a cut of the money. Quincy had gambled on Yvonne not knowing the difference as long as the job got done.

Yvonne tossed the broken pen into the trash and wiped the blood from her hand with a tissue. She turned to her assistant, her voice like ice. “Get Quincy in here. Now.”

Quincy had already heard the rumors. She walked into the office with her heart in her throat, barely able to look Yvonne in the eye.

‘Yvonne, you wanted to see me?”

Yvonne’s gaze was dark, almost predatory. Blood was still dripping from her palm, blooming like small, macabre flowers on the polished floor.

‘Lock the door,” Yvonne commanded.

Quincy obeyed, her hands shaking. As soon as she turned around, a heavy file folder caught her square in the chest.

“You want to explain yourself?” Yvonne hissed. “Who exactly did you hire for that job?”

Yvonne realized now that Quincy had dropped the ball. If she hadn’t been so blinded by her own caution, she never would have trusted Quincy with something this sensitive. She felt like strangling her.
