The Divorce Prescription (Celina and Adam) novel Chapter 1025

Rebecca had fallen intentionally.

No matter how much she tried to draw Jonah's attention, he remained completely indifferent, treating her like she wasn't even there.

Frustrated, she concluded that being physically close was the only way to catch his eye.

With her youthful allure and captivating figure, she was certain Jonah couldn't possibly resist her charms.

After all, she had easily captured Ewan's attention before.

With a dramatic gasp, Rebecca let herself tumble.

She imagined Jonah's arms wrapping around her, pulling her into his embrace.

But as the seconds stretched on, Rebecca realized something was off.

Jonah hadn't moved to help her.

A sharp shriek escaped her lips.

Before she could react, her body slammed into the ground with a painful thud.

She landed hard, and her limbs twisted in an uncomfortable position.

Rebecca was speechless.

Pain radiated through her entire body, every movement amplifying the unbearable ache.

The fitting room door swung open just then, and Hailey stepped out. "I'm done changing."

Jonah stepped forward and wrapped his arm around her slender waist. "Are you tired?"

Hailey smiled. "Not at all. Oh no! Rebecca, what happened to you?"

She couldn't help but notice Rebecca sprawled awkwardly on the floor.

Rebecca's face flushed with embarrassment. "I'm fine, Hailey. I just sprained my ankle and tripped. I'll get up right away!"

But the moment she tried to push herself up, the pain hit her like a wave.

She couldn't seem to move.

"No, no, it's just a scratch. I'm fine."

With a pitiful expression, Rebecca continued, "My family isn't well off. Whenever my father gets drunk, he beats my mother and me. He's also addicted to gambling. I've lived with bruises for years, so I'm already used to it. Compared to that, this little injury is nothing."

She continued to play the victim, knowing exactly how to stir pity with her vulnerable persona.

As Jonah stayed silent, Hailey spoke up. "Rebecca, you're in college now. This is your chance to break free from your family's troubles. I know you can do it."

Rebecca gave a nod. "Yes, I understand."

"Well, the fitting's done. You must be worn out. Come on, let's head home," Jonah said.

Hailey turned to Rebecca. "Looks like we're leaving now. How are you planning to get home?"

"Would you mind giving me a lift?" Rebecca asked.

Jonah turned her down without a second thought. "I have matters to deal with at the office. It's not convenient. Call a cab instead."

Rebecca's chest burned with fury. Jonah hadn't shown her the slightest trace of courtesy.
