Nora: 'Just throw a piece of fruit at him too. Once he sees it's you, he won't bid against you.'

Cassidy: '...'

'I hate to break it to you, but I'm sitting too far away. I couldn't hit him if I tried.'

'I have to use opera glasses just to see him.'

'I'm still a small fry; I can't reach a titan like your husband.'

'Wait, where did you go?'

Nora: 'I already texted him.'

When the message came through, Cassidy was in the middle of observing Maloney through her opera glasses.

Without warning, Maloney turned his head. His sharp, predatory gaze filled the entirety of her magnified view.

Cassidy flinched so hard she nearly launched the glasses across the room.

Maloney gave her a brief, acknowledging nod.

Cassidy smiled back and nodded in return.

That scared the hell out of her.

Honestly, Cassidy had never really approved of Maloney.

The rumors about his childhood sweetheart were one thing.

The fact that he had once stressed Nora out so badly she ended up in the hospital was another.

But most importantly, he was simply too calculating and complex.

'Where are you anyway?' Cassidy asked. 'Why didn't you come to the auction with him?'

Nora replied, 'Leona invited me to a wrap party.'

'Her new show premiered today, and it instantly shot to the number one spot on the most-watched list for the year.'

'The dress I made for her trended on social media. She wore it during the promo tour, and her fans started calling her Her Majesty. She got so overwhelmed she tripped and sprained her ankle, which also went viral.'

'The viral moments helped build hype for the show, so I guess I contributed. I even got a massive bonus envelope, hehe.'
