The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 141

Maloney Jameson draped all ten sets of jewelry from the display cabinet onto Nora Dodge.

Eight necklaces alone encircled her delicate neck.

Chains of diamonds cascaded down her slender wrists.

A five-row diamond bracelet was clasped securely around her ankle.

Ruby and sapphire chains were wrapped elegantly around her calves.

Since she could only wear one pair of earrings, Maloney hooked the rest onto the edge of Nora's bath towel.

They formed a sparkling row right across her chest.

Under the brilliant glow of the walk-in closet's crystal chandelier, Nora radiated a mesmerizing, luminous beauty from head to toe.

She stood frozen, too terrified to move.

Maloney dragged his appreciative gaze over his masterpiece.

Nora looked utterly bewildered and muttered, "Maloney, what are you doing?"

Ever since he started hooking earrings onto her towel, any lingering drowsiness had vanished completely.

"They're gifts," he replied simply.

Nora shrank back slightly, mulling it over before asking, "Why are you giving me all this?"

"Why shouldn't I?" he countered.

Still trying to wrap her head around it, she asked tentatively, "Is today some kind of anniversary?"

"Today isn't anything special." Maloney took a step forward, crowding her space. "Nora, I don't need a holiday to spoil you. I do it because I want to, and because I want to make you happy."

Truthfully, he had planned to save them for the next time she threw a tantrum.

Unfortunately, his stash had been compromised.

But it didn't matter.

He always had a backup plan.

Jewelry was the one thing Nora couldn't resist.

It was a conclusion Maloney had drawn after careful observation.

If he bought her flowers, she'd say a polite thank you.

If he bought her designer bags or perfume, she'd thank him but insist he had spent too much.

But if he bought her diamonds, she'd flash him a brilliant smile and say thank you with genuine delight.
