The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 196

Inside a private room at the VIP club.

Cassidy was openly talking about Nora right in front of her to Jasmine.

"I always used to think it was a massive shame that Nora gave up law for fashion design."

"She had incredible grades, everyone wanted her, and veteran professors practically begged her to join the judicial system. She could have ended up in The High Court."

"But after what happened recently, I feel like she's honestly not cut out for that line of work."

"She's way too empathetic. If she were a judge and the suspect gave a tear-jerking performance, she'd probably sit up there and cry with them."

Nora was speechless.

She protested, "I'm not that ridiculous, am I?"

"Relax, it's a compliment," Cassidy said, patting Nora's shoulder. "You're doing great right now. You're doing what you love, chasing your dreams, and your college degree didn't go to waste. Your moral compass is way higher than most people's."

Jasmine nodded in agreement. "The concept for Leona's video was brilliant. Sure, some trolls are accusing her of promoting violence, but anyone with half a brain can see the raw emotion behind it. It worked perfectly. The hype for her new show is through the roof. When it airs next year, it's going to be a massive hit."

Cassidy pressed her palms together in prayer. "Already invested. Praying for a blockbuster."

Nora chimed in, "Me too."

Jasmine stared at them.

She was the only one who hadn't invested.

Nora had figured that since it was her idea and Leona ran with it, regardless of the outcome, she might as well place a bet on it.

When she mentioned it in the group chat, Cassidy immediately threw money at it too.

Jasmine didn't have the spare cash for investments yet.

She could only watch in envy.

Right now, it looked like a guaranteed goldmine.

Cassidy poked Nora's arm. "Why didn't you ask your husband to invest with you?"

Nora replied bluntly, "He doesn't care about pocket change like this."

"Then borrow from him!" Cassidy groaned, exasperated. "If you didn't put in much, borrow a chunk from him, pay back the principal when you win, and keep the pure profit."

Jasmine quoted playfully, "My brilliant husband lifts me to the clouds, and I shall repay him in gold."

Nora rolled her eyes.

With everything going on recently, it was rare for the three of them to just hang out and chat. Before they knew it, it was already ten at night.

Maloney called Nora, his voice gentle. "Do you need me to pick you up?"

Nora finally noticed the time.

She replied, "No, I drove."

Ten o'clock wasn't terribly late, but Cassidy was pregnant and needed to stick to a strict sleep schedule. They chatted for a few more minutes before getting up to leave.

Cassidy's driver arrived, and she left first.

Nora and Jasmine walked to the parking lot to get their cars.

"I'm planning to buy a car," Jasmine said.

She was currently driving Felix's car.

With so much going on, bouncing between her apartment, the studio, and the wellness center, not having a car was a nightmare, and borrowing one every day wasn't a permanent fix.
