The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 233

"But now that she's seen what a truly spectacular man looks like, do you seriously think she'd spare you a second glance?"

"She currently spends all her time admiring an eighty-something-year-old grandfather. He's a true gentleman, a nationally renowned piano maestro. The only tragedy is his age—his back is frail, and he can only manage one song a day at the piano."

"But Valery religiously goes to his room every single day just to hear him play. Even in his eighties, he oozes brilliance and undeniable class. Unlike you. You have no talent, no morals, and absolutely nothing to offer. What on earth makes you think she would ever want you again?"

Her voice barely wavered.

It remained soft, her cadence elegant.

But every single word was a serrated blade, carving Yates's ego into ribbons until his face turned a sickening shade of grey.

He clearly hadn't expected someone as sweet as Nora to verbally butcher him.

He stood frozen for several agonizing seconds before choking out, "What are you implying?"

"Is it really that hard to understand?" Nora tilted her head in faux confusion. "You aren't worthy of breathing the same air as Valery. You're completely beneath her notice. Stop harassing her."

"And Jasmine has someone new too. He's younger than you, vastly better looking, and comes from a family that eclipses yours in every possible way. You don't hold a candle to him. Stop trying to drag her down."

"Everything you achieved was handed to you by your parents. Now that you've driven them away, you are nothing. You have zero advantages left—not age, not looks, not wealth, not reputation, and certainly not talent."

"Take a good, hard look in the mirror, scurry back to whatever sewer you crawled out of, and stay there. I am not taking you anywhere. And if you ever try to stalk them again..."

Nora tapped the top of the tissue box on the desk, her voice dropping to absolute zero.

"I'll take your brand-new taped confession straight to the police and demand they reopen the sexual assault investigation."

Yates stared at the tissue box, his brain finally catching up. She had been deliberately goading him into confessing.

His eyes nearly popped out of his skull. "You played me?!"

Nora blinked innocently. "How exactly did I play you?"

Yates's face went purple with fury. His chest heaved violently, the veins bulging so hard on his hands they looked ready to snap. With a feral roar, he grabbed the wooden tissue box and hurled it at the floor.

The bottom popped open, and tissues exploded everywhere.

Aside from the paper, there was absolutely nothing inside.

The crash immediately drew the rest of the studio staff.

Her newly hired design assistant stepped protectively in front of Nora, glaring at Yates. "Nora, are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Nora didn't even look at Yates. "Get out."

The employees formed a menacing wall, eyeing him like a threat.
