Out of the corner of her eye, Seraphina caught a glimpse of Nora.

Nora was still leaning motionless against the railing, lost in her own world.

The sun was glaring, making it impossible to decipher where her gaze was truly focused.

A dark, calculating glint flashed in Seraphina's eyes. She suddenly lunged forward, wrapping both arms tightly around Maloney's arm and pressing her entire body against him. She lowered her voice to a seductive whisper. "Maloney, if you just agree to have dinner with me today, I'll personally authorize giving you an extra two percent of the profits on the West End Project. Please?"

His patience was completely obliterated.

Maloney violently wrenched his arm free, then immediately seized Seraphina by the elbow, dragging her forcibly toward the interior of the building.

Caught off guard, she stumbled over her own feet, letting out a sharp gasp. "Maloney!"

He practically hauled her out of the room.

Sebastian was standing in the corridor connecting the main office to the balcony. Maloney shoved Seraphina toward him, his voice radiating pure ice. "Keep your people in check."

Without another word, he turned on his heel and strode back out to the terrace.

Seraphina stared after him in absolute disbelief. She took a frantic step to chase him, but Sebastian's hand clamped down hard on her wrist. "Stop chasing him."

"Is he out of his mind?! Why the hell is he treating me like this?!" Seraphina violently shook off her brother's grip, her face a messy mask of unadulterated fury and heartbreak. "I treated him so well! I bent over backward for him! I molded myself into the exact kind of woman he wanted! Why doesn't he want me?! Why is he doing this to me?!"

Sebastian's voice was heavy. "He's a married man."

"It was an accident!" Seraphina shrieked, her voice echoing down the hall. "Nora dragged him down with her! Their marriage means absolutely nothing!"

They had no feelings for each other.

It was a union forged entirely out of desperation to save their reputations and corporate standing.

Seraphina's voice cracked. "He promised he would wait for me. We were supposed to be together."

"Seraphina," Sebastian said wearily. "Give it up."
