Nora, Cassidy, and Parker sat together in a rare moment of harmony.

She blurted out, "You can see how rough Seraphina has it, but you can't see how hard Cassidy works?"

"What's so hard about her life?" Parker's voice instantly rose. He cast a disdainful look at Cassidy. "She married me, and she doesn't have to lift a finger at home. She works at my family's firm, and my mom practically hands everything to her. She barely has to do anything."

"But Seraphina is also—" Nora tried to interject.

Cassidy grabbed Nora's arm and gave a subtle shake of her head.

Nora swallowed her words.

But after a moment, she still couldn't let it go. She added, "Seraphina is the most pampered daughter of the Sinclair family. Her family treats her like royalty. She was born with resources most people couldn't dream of in a lifetime. There are plenty of people out there who have it far worse than her."

"Most pampered?" Parker scoffed. "If she was really their favorite, why would her parents hand the company over to her brother? You women are just jealous of how capable she is. You refuse to acknowledge her hard work."

Both Nora and Cassidy froze.

Parker's words were incredibly harsh, yet ironically, he was actually defending another woman's struggles. Neither of them expected him to say something so profound.
