The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 254

How could this all end?

It was actually quite simple.

What happened last time was serious, but not unforgivable.

Didn't they say they wanted to start dating again?

Then they should just date.

They could treat it like a brand-new relationship: confessing their feelings, sending flowers, going on dates, and doing all the little things couples did. When the time was right... and it wouldn't take long, since Saturday was the day after tomorrow, they could go out to see a romance movie, share a candlelight dinner, and when the mood was perfect, book a hotel room...

It didn't even need to be that complicated.

If Maloney Jameson could just behave himself a little and earnestly pretend they were in the honeymoon phase, Nora Dodge could never stay mad at him for this long.

She had always been soft-hearted.

But Maloney insisted on playing dirty.

He would either use a spare key to barge into the bathroom while she was showering, or sneakily take off her pajamas while she was sleeping, all while deliberately calling her "Nora, darling" in that husky baritone of his.

He had done it again today.

And he had even threatened her!

She had been fully prepared to show some mercy and point him in the right direction.

But she suddenly paused.

Wait.

Just a moment ago, Maloney had said he wasn't sure what he would do to her.

Wasn't this exactly what Nora had been fantasizing about this afternoon? If there had been no schemes between them, they would have had a sweet college romance. And the endgame of that college romance would be Maloney losing all self-control, pushing his boundaries, becoming entirely consumed by lust, and ruthlessly dominating her...

Nora took a soft breath.

She was actually looking forward to it.

The corners of her lips curled up uncontrollably.

Thankfully, the bedroom lights were off.

Nora turned her head away. "Figure it out yourself."

Maloney let out a very faint sigh. "Can we share a blanket?"

Nora kept up her act. "Then we sleep in separate beds."

Maloney lowered his voice. "Nora, darling, give me a chance."

Nora was speechless.

In the end, Nora's resolve melted beneath the heat of Maloney's breath.

She agreed in a daze.

The two of them lay under the same covers.

Nora gave up. "I'm not talking to you anymore."

Maloney was silent.

Muttering under her breath, Nora nestled into Maloney's embrace, found a comfortable spot, and soon drifted off into a deep sleep.

Having shared a bed for so long, Maloney could easily tell whether she was faking it or truly asleep just by the rhythm of her breathing.

Seeing that Nora was sound asleep, Maloney kept one arm wrapped around her and slipped his other hand out from under the covers, reaching for his phone on the nightstand.

Maloney sent separate messages to Lee Sterling and Mr. Hudson, instructing them to look into Seraphina Sinclair's recent activities.

Nora wouldn't ask such a bizarre question for no reason.

Something must have happened.

She had just met with Seraphina today.

He needed to investigate Seraphina first.

Lee and Mr. Hudson had spent the entire evening discussing business with Maloney.

Maloney had just gotten home, which meant Lee and Mr. Hudson had just arrived at their homes as well and were still awake.

Mr. Hudson replied with an 'acknowledged' emoji.

Lee texted back: 'You know, there actually is something going on.'

'Old Yang mentioned that the Sinclair Group is holding an internal meeting to discuss convening a shareholders' assembly tomorrow morning. They're planning to re-elect the board of directors and the CEO.'
