The experience wasn't exactly great.
Well, actually.
Even after getting married, they couldn't just stay cooped up at home all the time.
They would lose that spark of novelty.
They needed to get out occasionally.
A marriage that was too mundane was prone to issues.
That much was true.
Swiping the keycard to open the door.
Nora instantly slipped into character.
Before stepping inside, she glanced up and down the hallway.
Seeing no one around, she slipped in quickly and shut the door behind her.
"Maloney," Nora whispered. "I'm here."
Silence.
"Maloney?"
Nora walked further inside.
The executive suite featured a classic one-bedroom layout. A warm-toned wooden screen naturally separated the open living room from the bedroom.
Maloney wasn't in the living room.
Nora headed toward the bedroom.
Just as she rounded the screen, a dark figure suddenly darted out. Before she could blink, a pair of strong, defined arms wrapped tightly around her waist and yanked her forward.
The two of them stumbled forward, locked in an embrace.
They fell straight onto the large bed.
With a muffled thud, a blanket of rose petals exploded into the air like a wave of crimson snow.
The petals rained down softly, dusting their tangled figures in a hazy, romantic hue.
"Nora," Maloney murmured, his lips brushing against her ear. "Happy one-year dating anniversary."
Nora was speechless.
Where did he get a one-year dating anniversary from?
Was he just making up scenarios on the fly?
Nora used to be a crybaby, but over time, she probably just got used to him. Not only had she stopped crying, but she had become incredibly good at acting shameless.
For example, in the past, if things dragged on too long, she would cry and beg. Now, she would just lie back and say, 'Do whatever you want, I'm going to sleep.'
She knew exactly how to make Maloney helpless.
He couldn't exactly admit that he did it because he wanted to see her cry, to see her look wronged, to see her eyes turn red as she begged for mercy with a teary gaze.
Saying that might just piss her off.
Still, being in a new environment had made Nora unusually excited today.
It seemed like he should take her out more often.
Winter was right around the corner; they could hit a resort and soak in the hot springs.
Sitting outdoors in a hundred-and-four-degree pool while the freezing air bit at them—that hot-and-cold contrast would definitely be thrilling.
When spring came, they could go camping.
Inside a tent, a small, intimate space, completely surrounded by the vastness of nature.
When summer arrived, they could take a yacht out on the water.
He needed to pick out a new yacht—something spacious, fully equipped, and most importantly, with an absolutely massive top deck.
