The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 301

"He can mess with me all he wants, but if he messes with my clients, he's a dead man!"

Nora sat by the edge of the bed and gently patted Cassidy's hand. "He can't mess with you either. You have a baby to think about."

Cassidy paused, then nodded in agreement. "That's true. This kid is worth at least double-digit company shares."

She quickly revised her threat. "If anything happens to me or this project, I will absolutely end him!"

Sitting on the other side of the bed, Jasmine asked, "Where is Parker? Why isn't he here today?"

"His father and grandfather confined him to the family estate," Cassidy said dismissively. "They grounded him for three days straight."

Nora blinked, sighing. "He really does have an easy life."

Even after causing such a massive disaster, Parker didn't have to stay at the hospital to care for his wife, nor did he have to figure out how to fix the PR nightmare of assaulting a client. Instead, he was 'punished' with house arrest—a theatrical slap on the wrist that sounded harsh but was actually just a way to shield him from the fallout.

Once his confinement was over, if anything happened to Cassidy or the client, the family would just say, 'He was grounded for three days; he's learned his lesson.'

The ones who actually had to clean up the mess were Cassidy and Bridget.

"I prefer it when he's not around. It's peaceful," Cassidy said, genuinely unbothered. "The doctor ordered me on strict bed rest for two weeks. Looks like I'll be working from this bed for the next half month."

Jasmine stared at her. "...Do you even know what bed rest means?"

"It means staying in bed, right? I'm in bed." Cassidy pointed to a stack of folders on her nightstand. "It's actually perfect timing. I need to organize the evidence for the lawsuit against Lucius Vane. It's easier to read files lying down anyway."

Jasmine's expression was utterly deadpan.

Cassidy continued, "You guys have no idea. More than half of the money in Lucius Vane's accounts came from illegal activities."

"I even learned a new money-making scheme. You open an online store, endlessly generate fake internal orders to inflate your revenue, cook the books, drive up the stock price, and then cash out at the peak. The money you put in at the start multiplies exponentially on the secondary market."
