"She said she's calling the cops!" Bella shrieked, pointing furiously at Nora.

Nora glanced at the way Vivian and Bella's hands were tightly intertwined, and suddenly, everything clicked into place.

No wonder Vivian had been so inexplicably warm to her just moments ago. It had all been a calculated setup to pave the way for Bella's return.

If Nora had accepted Vivian’s fake olive branch from the start, the moment she questioned Bella’s presence, Vivian would have immediately played the victim: We’re all family here, I let the past go, why are you still holding a grudge?

Thank God Nora had long stopped expecting anything from the woman.

Looking away, she picked up her pace toward the front door.

"Nora! Stop right there!" Vivian's face darkened instantly. She lunged forward, trying to snatch the phone from Nora's grasp. "It's a family holiday! What are you throwing a tantrum for now?"

Anticipating the move, Nora quickly hid her hands behind her back.

Seeing this, Bella rushed over, and together with Vivian, they effectively boxed Nora in.

Vivian pinned Nora's arms down while Bella snatched the phone and violently smashed it against the floor.

"Speak! Nora," Vivian sneered, her previous gentle facade entirely gone. "What are you throwing a tantrum for now?"

Nora met Vivian's furious gaze with unnerving calm. "The call went through. The police are on their way."

Bella looked absolutely appalled. "Are you out of your mind?"

"You're the crazy one," Nora shot back. "You shouldn't be here."

"Watch your tone!" Vivian barked. "Bella is your cousin! If she doesn't belong here, where does she belong?"

"She signed an ironclad agreement. She is legally banned from returning to the city for the rest of her life."

"Are you seriously still holding onto that old grudge?"

Bella grabbed a hold of the seething Vivian to calm her down. Lifting her chin arrogantly, Bella sneered, "So what if I signed a piece of paper? What, do you really think the cops are going to drag me out of the city?"

Realization dawned on Vivian, and she quickly steadied herself. "You already signed a settlement for what happened back then. You studied law—you should know that calling the cops now is useless!"

Nora ignored both of them.

Her absolute composure sent a wave of inexplicable panic through the room.

Bella subconsciously tightened her grip on Vivian's hand.

Patting Bella's arm, Vivian reassured her, "It's okay, Bella. She can't touch you."

The shouting downstairs had finally caught the attention of the men upstairs.
