Cassidy couldn't stop herself from rolling her eyes. "Think whatever you want."
"I hit the nail on the head, didn't I? You don't even have an excuse!" A smug look crossed Parker's face, and he scoffed. "It's such a trivial thing, and you've been dragging it out for this long. I never realized you were this petty."
"It's not like I actually cheated on you. What do you have to be so mad about? You even ran crying to my parents and ruined my life. I'm the one who should be pissed off!"
Parker's incessant whining made Cassidy's blood boil. Too exhausted to engage, she turned on her heel to leave, but Parker grabbed her arm.
"You refused to sit in the front seat earlier. Are you still obsessing over the fact that I let Seraphina sit there that day?"
"No!" Cassidy violently wrenched her arm out of his grip.
"Then why didn't you get in when I told you to?"
"Is it any of your business? Get out of my face!"
"See? You are obsessing over it."
Whether it was for the money, long-term survival, or a genuine desire to fix things, Parker actually managed to spit out a half-hearted concession. "Fine, fine, I was wrong. From now on, the passenger seat is exclusively yours."
"And misunderstanding you that day was my fault, too."
"But there is absolutely nothing going on between me and Seraphina. Those pictures online were a setup. You are not allowed to use that against me!"
Forcing those words out seemed to drain all his energy, and he hastily tacked on, "Are you happy now?"
Cassidy gave him a long, measuring look.
Defensive, impatient, and utterly insincere.
Did he honestly believe that constituted an apology?
He didn't think he was wrong at all. He just wanted to escape his current financial prison as quickly as possible.
Today was Jasmine's special day, and Cassidy refused to ruin it by screaming at him in a parking lot.
"I'm not obsessing over it," Cassidy said coldly. "I'm pregnant. The doctor said pregnant women shouldn't sit in the passenger seat. Don't flatter yourself."
Parker eyed her stomach suspiciously. "You're not even showing yet. Why can't you sit there?"
