The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 80

It happened entirely too fast.

As Jasmine's parents bolted off the stage, Yates sprinted after them.

The crowd, previously buzzing with joyful chatter, abruptly panicked and surged toward the back of the room.

The elegant banquet hall instantly descended into absolute chaos.

Nora had been completely focused on filming Jasmine, so she missed the catalyst for the stampede.

Now, a massive throng of people was blocking the view.

"What just happened?" Nora asked Cassidy, her voice laced with shock.

Before Cassidy could answer, Yates's frantic roar tore through the noise. "Move! Get out of the way!"

Guests crashed into each other in the frenzy. Someone slammed into a table, sending crystal glasses shattering against the marble floor. Elaborate floral arrangements were knocked over, the delicate blossoms ruthlessly trampled underfoot.

Yates burst through the crowd, carrying Valery in his arms, sprinting toward the exit. Jasmine's parents were right on his heels, with the rest of the Smith family trailing behind them in sheer terror.

In the blink of an eye, half the guests had evacuated the hall.

"I didn't catch it either. I think Valery collapsed," Cassidy murmured, her mind struggling to process the sudden disaster. Despite being used to high-society drama, even she was momentarily paralyzed.

A few seconds later, reality snapped back, and Cassidy whipped her head toward the stage.

Jasmine was still standing there, completely frozen.

She was clutching her half-empty teacup, her hands trembling. Her hands and the front of her gorgeous gown were soaked in spilled tea. She maintained the rigid posture of a perfect bride, but looked utterly shattered.

At the head table, Howard and Martha Quigley were still seated, their faces dark with fury.

They surveyed the ruined ballroom in disbelief.

The Smith family had just sprinted out without a word, leaving the Quigleys humiliated in front of their peers.

Mrs. Quigley took a deep, shuddering breath, trying to suppress her explosive anger. She stood up and reached for Jasmine's hand. "Jasmine..."

Before she could say another word, Cassidy lunged onto the stage, grabbed Jasmine by the waist, and forcefully yanked her down the steps.

"Jasmine, your sister had a medical emergency. You need to get to the hospital right now," Cassidy commanded, pinching Jasmine's waist hard. "Do you hear me?"

The sharp pain jolted Jasmine out of her catatonic state. She let out a weak "Oh," though it wasn't clear if she fully comprehended what was happening.
