She’d just learned in full what it was all those she wolves in that study felt like, when they had to let their Mate, mate them through their heat, for the first time after being abandoned by them in the first place, something that would happen regardless of whether the she–wolf didn’t want it, or if they weren’t ready for

This was what Mischa imagined it felt like, to just try and be intimate with them for the first time, since they’d been abandoned by the one they’d loved and trusted, where all trust had been broken and none had been rebuilt, their bond fractured and unrepaired, and it really wasn’t a nice feeling at all.

Mischa understood why this happened, that she’d put herself through this or purpose, and for a reason, but right now, as she leaned on the wall, unable to look at him, she felt tears slide down her face, and she thought the cost was too high, and not only for herself but for Laud. She didn’t love this man or his wolf anymore, and neither did her wolf, but they were still bound to him.

“Leave.” She whispered, “I need a minute.” And she knew that she did.

“Mischa, I kept it to what you asked.” He spoke gently to her.

“Get out. I can’t deal with it, with you right now… I don’t want to.” She shook her head. “Get out before ! lose it, and you suffer the full consequences of what you did to us six months ago,” she told him. She needed to settle herself, to calm down. She’d known this was going to happen, did this to herself. She understood that, but now needed to be alone and away from him.

“You’re next bout.” Anthony murmured.

“Won’t be for a while, it was hours between them last time,” she answered him.

“I’ll be outside, I won’t go anywhere,” he told her, and she heard him

walk to the door but not leave.

“Go.” She bit out.

“I have to make sure the way is cleared before I open the door.” He told her, “To keep you safe.”

She shook her head. He’d not cared to do that the last time, but she said nothing at all and after another

minute he was gone from the room, and she sank down onto the ground and turned around to lean on the

wall.

Her head was back against it, and she wiped her tears away, and sighed to herself and muttered into the room, “That bitch had better induce her heat.” She knew she wasn’t up for doing this again, and as much as she wanted Christy to suffer multiple heats a year, she would have to find another way to see it come

about.

‘I’m sorry Laud, I thought we were… I was strong enough to handle this…. seems not.‘ She murmured to her wolf softly.

‘Done now, no more for six months, we’ll get past it,‘ Laud told her as she lay inside her mind, head on her

What if this is how we react to another Mate, freak out over being in heat with him?” Mischa sighed and scrubbed a hand over her face; she didn’t want that but now didn’t know.

‘He will understand us, Laud told her, and there was a kind of certainty to her wolf’s words. ‘It’s just Anthony we don’t want.

‘Are you certain about that? I completely freaked out and I know it, Mischa muttered.

‘Run away to be mated by anyone but him. That was what you wanted, so it’s only him you don’t want. Him I don’t want. I wouldn’t have attacked another mating us, would let them, to sort out heat needs. We’re good. Laud stated more firmly.

‘Just harder than I thought it was going to be.‘ Mischa sighed. She really did hope that her wolf was right, that they would be okay with having another Mate them, that it was just Anthony they had an aversion to. Maybe she should have Dana put that in the study?

She felt Paul connect to her, ‘Mish, are you okay?‘ he asked, and she felt his Gamma charm roll over her

through that link.

‘Not really,’ she answered him honestly. She didn’t have to hide things from him, but she latched onto that charm of his and allowed it to settle and calm her, was accepting of it in full. Something he would also sense out, that she didn’t fight it; accepted it.

‘Anthony said you freaked out and tried to bolt away… What do you want to do about your next bout?‘ Paul

asked.

She knew she wouldn’t be having one, so there was nothing to do about it. She sat there and just closed her eyes and she felt something come from him ‘Mischa?‘ he asked questioningly.

‘There will be no more bouts, just one. Sorry I forgot to tell you. That treatment I got, it reduces my heat to just one bout, but don’t tell Anthony that,‘ she sighed, ‘I meant to tell you and the girls, just kind of forgot with all that happened upon my return to the pack is all, and nothing more.‘

‘Okay, do I get to know how that works or am I not allowed to know that?‘ Paul asked, and she heard the curiosity in his voice.

‘You really are a good Gamma, Paul. Best not though, then you’ve got plausible deniability.’ She smiled just a little. ‘Do me a favor though, I need a bucket, and I mean a bucket of chocolate ice cream, with wolfen loaded Kahlua fudge and almonds swirled through it.’

Paul chuckled now, ‘Wolfen loaded ice cream, that’s gotta be a first, I’ll ask the pack chef to get on that the moment you’re happy to release my charm on you.’

She thought about that, and she did actually feel a little better already, ‘I think I’m good. Drop the Charm and let’s see. Keep the link so if I’m not, you’ll pick it up pretty quick, probably before I do‘ she told him.

She took a few steadying breaths to help try and keep herself relaxed without her Gamma’s Charm. ‘What’s he doing?‘ she asked after a moment. Needing a distraction from the smell in this room. She pushed herself up off the floor and headed through the suite; she would take a shower.

‘Pacing around out there in the hallway from what I can feel of where he is, you never made it to your suite?”

‘No, and I didn’t want to be in there with him.‘ Mischa told him truthfully.

‘I get that, just so you’re aware he’s… stressed out himself, I felt that loud and clear, too many emotions for him and his beast to handle themselves over your reaction to this heat; how you’re not handling it well, and he saw it for himself.

‘He destroyed that vase and table by the corner of the hallway that leads down to your room, not sure what else, he roared in pain for all to hear. I sent Anne up there to clean up the mess he made, also asked her to report his condition to me, kind of think he’s going to destroy everything up there, like he did in his suite when you came home.

She just nodded as she turned the shower on, didn’t really care about what Anthony was feeling right this minute, that was his problem. ‘Alright, could you have her collect me some clothes and bring them to me?

‘I can do that. What are you going to do about Anthony? How long are you going to let him stand and prowl around out there waiting to sense your next bout of heat, now that he can’t smell it.’

‘I don’t know, but he’ll know when it’s over sense it, so I guess until that moment comes… I don’t know how long that will be. I just know the treatment is activated by the first bout of heat, and then there are no more after it, but that might not happen until the next bout actually comes on.

‘I think that is how it’s supposed to work, that’s the way it was said. I’m the first to trial it and have to report how it goes, so I guess we wait and when he stops feeling it he’ll likely link me and ask what’s going on. Or

think I’m pregnant.’

‘On birth control Mischa, he knows that.‘ Paul mused.

‘It’s not always effective, one can still get pregnant when on birth control,‘ she stated knowing it could

happen.

‘Sit and wait it is. If Christy enacts her plan, I’ll link you. She was warned by me not to interrupt you or link to Anthony for anything at all during your heat. I’m curious about something. If she’ll do that, refuse to call to him, if she does induce herself to say she didn’t call him and suffered it on her own because she didn’t

want to interrupt.’

‘Hmm, lay the blame of her suffering a heat alone, on that I will take offense to her being in heat, and she’ll get punished for it.’ Mischa understood that was what he was saying.

‘Mm, it’s entirely possible.’ Paul murmured.

‘Where is she?‘ Mischa asked. She couldn’t be bothered to track that she–wolf right now.

In Debbie’s office atterrding her Luña Lessons. I don’t know if she’ll induce herself or not, to be honest

“Bloody better after all I just went through.‘ Mischa muttered ‘The waters hot I’m getting in the shower, I’m good, calmed down.”

‘I know. I’ll inform Anthony you did need me, are currently settled and calm but that you’re requesting to be alone for now, for him to stay away until your next bout. He stated and dropped the link.

She got in the shower and let the hot water soak herself and her clothes and peeled them off to drop them on the floor to get rid of the scent of Anthony on them, then washed herself clean, before just standing under the steady stream of water trying not to think about anything at all. Just let that water wash it all

away.

Then she got out and dried herself off, wrapped a towel around her and went and sat on the bed, flopped back down on it and stared aimlessly up at the ceiling, she was going to have to document all of this in her diary and relive it as she did so. But a bonus, at least for that study, she could just screenshot it and attach it and not have to think about it or rewrite it again later on, which would see her have to relive it

once more.

That she did not want to have to do at all.
