Ch 137
The hours passed and Anne had come into the room to deliver her new clothes as requested, told her that Anthony was still out there in the hallway, that he was just sitting on the floor leaning up against the wall, that he kind of looked defeated to her in posture.
She looked at Mischa a little on the concerned side, and she didn’t know who that concern was for right now; herself, Anthony or even Anne, as she worried about the state of her Alpha and Luna’s bond. She’d known it was broken long ago, but this here and now showed that very thing to her personal omega. Because she was in heat and her Mate was shut out of the room.
She’d not asked for an update on him; Anne had simply relayed what she’d seen was all. Likely wanted her once loving Alpha and Luna to get along once more, come back together and be how it used to be. Only Mischa knew that was never going to happen.
He’d destroyed them and their bond, let his second Mate get between them and tear them apart, and regardless that, right now, he was out there looking defeated and had destroyed things in the aftermath of what he’d now seen and felt from her. Knew the utter ugly truth of all he’d done by constantly pandering to Christy.
That was all on him and she, as she sat there and thought about it, had no sympathy for him at all,” Deserves to see and feel it all.’ Laud told her, ‘He dished all of this out to us six months ago,
‘It’s not defeat he’s feeling, Mischa murmured to her beast, ‘He and his wolf feel that we not only just
pushed them away after the heat was over. But they both saw that we didn’t want them to mate us. They
watched us as we actively froze and tried to run away from him… It’s abandonment he’s feeling out there.’
Mischa realized.
‘And they, like us in the beginning, don’t know how to cope with it. They are even doing what we did, sitting kind of half out of it as they try and think through everything that happened, anything and everything that was said, and likely even what will happen when that next bout of heat comes. Laud snorted ‘Serves them
right.’
‘One must reap what you sow.‘ Mischa murmured.
It was just after 1pm when Anthony connected a mind–link to her ‘Mischa, how are you?‘ he asked, sounding kind of tentative.
She wondered exactly what those words meant. Was he looking to be allowed to come into this room once more? Did he actually want to know how she felt right this minute? Or was it how she felt about that next bout of heat he knew was due soon?
Or was he just trying to establish if she was willing to speak with him? There was no connection between them anymore for him to feel what she did down a mind–link unless she actively sent it and let him feel him. She didn’t feel anything he or his wolf felt anymore, that had been obliterated six months ago. She could, of course, pick up his tone and understand from that, which he was likely trying to do with her

right now. I’m calm. Shre answered him simply enough.
“Perhaps… I should come in there, and we should talk about this, now that I’ve seen just how this is affecting you… myself and Shade to be honest. His voice was calm, but there was something in it, something that she thought was more than concern.

‘Perhaps… she mimicked that pause he’d given to her. ‘You should have considered the consequences of your actions six months ago.‘ She told him flatly. ‘When you let Christy stop you from attending my heat in the first place!
There was complete silence from him after those words came from her. She knew he didn’t want to bring it up again but also didn’t know what to say to her anymore. She didn’t believe his apologies, and he knew it, so even saying he was sorry again wouldn’t see her believe it or accept it.
‘Can’t you bear the consequences of your own actions, Alpha!‘ She stated and hit him where she knew it hurt the most, in this very moment. Used his title, not his name or even the word Mate, showing him just how cold and unfeeling she was of his feelings.
‘What you feel now, out there that is abandonment by your first Mate and Luna. That is how I felt, suck it up and deal with it. Like I’ve had to, like Laud had to, and be thankful that you didn’t have the pain she–wolves get when they are abandoned to their heat alone… if I could make you feel that, I would,‘ she told him and cut the link.
She was done talking to him, she had just laid it all out for him yet again, she’d moved on from all the pain and heartache in the beginning to indifferent, then to cold and emotionless, and now she was completely
heartless where he was concerned.
She’d told Christy it was a whole new ball game, and that was true and not only for Christy, but for Anthony as well. She no longer considered even holding her tongue, if she wanted to say it, she just would, regardless of if it was down a mind–link or out in public where anyone inside this pack could hear her.
She would do as she said she would, look after the pack, attend to all Luna Duties until such a time as she stepped aside and then left this place. She would miss them all, but at the same time she knew that they would all understand. Because they had seen it, heard it and were watching their leadership fall apart
slowly but surely.
They were, she knew, just waiting on the day for Mischa to reject their Alpha and walk from this pack without looking back. They knew it wasn’t because she didn’t want to be here and didn’t want to not be their Luna. It was because her own Alpha Mate treated her like shit and abandoned her. They’d all seen it
with their own two eyes.
None of the pack treated her any differently to how they had a year ago, or five years ago, for that matter. They still carne to her for advice and comfort and, despite the past years, becoming what she could only consider to be a hellish nightmare of emotional pain and suffering. She’d never once let that affect the way she treated the pack members.
She still loved and cared for all of them every single minute of the day. Still interacted with them all, she

was still organizing and attending fun events within the pack, like that bridge tournament last night. It had gone on for many hours and there had been a lot of laughing and taunting going on.
She and Rebecca hadn’t even versed Letti and Carol, and neither of their teams had won either. It had been quite funny to see Letti and Carol shoot up out of their chairs when they won their match and she and Rebecca were knocked out of the round while they moved on up the leader board.
Both of them had yelled, “Suck it, we beat you,” pointing at her and Rebecca, which had only made the room burst out laughing, she’d laughed as much as everyone else had. Rebecca had declared they’d win next time.
Then she and Rebecca had rolled around and pointed at Letti and Carol when they’d not made it to the second final round. Carol had called out tauntingly, “Counted your chickens before they hatched, did we, Letti?” and laughed along with many others.
It was always fun for everyone at the tournaments and ribbing was just part and parcel of the game. They’d all left that library smiling and happy, and a team of omegas had won it and were more than happy to be heading off to the Rising Blue Lotus for three days of pampering, got the deluxe package. Something out of their price range on a normal day.
She was sitting playing a game of tri–peaks solitaire on her phone which had been brought to her by Anne. She’d found it out in the hallway, Mischa hadn’t even realized she’d dropped it when she’d tried to run from Anthony and her heat. Likely let it go while she was freaking out.
When she felt Debbie connect with her at three thirty, ‘Mischa, we have a problem.’
‘That would be.’ She answered, her fingers hovering over her phone screen as a slight smile touched her face.
‘Christy’s heat just bloomed here inside my office,’ Debbie informed her. ‘I’ve got her locked in here, your next bout is when.’
‘I don’t know,’ Mischa answered, ‘That is not something anyone can pick Debbie. You would know that.’ Although a full smile spread across her face, Christy really didn’t disappoint, had gone so far as to wait until her afternoon break to induce herself likely at the very end of it, seeing as how quickly it enacted itself, no more than 20 minutes. She’d thought she’d upped her game and found a way to hide the fact that
she’d done this to herself.
When all she’d done was take the bait and play right into Mischa’s trap, that she–wolf was now about to have two heats a year, and they were only going to be three months apart. That wouldn’t even give her
time to birth a pup if she did get pregnant in February.
‘Inform Anthony, though I dare say he already knows, would have felt it,‘ she paused in her sentence as she pulled on that tether that was Anthony’s, and he was still outside her room, hadn’t walked away. “He’s still
here, she told Debbie ‘Outside the suite.
‘I know, he’s kind of panicking about what to do, was confused as to how it happened once again, doesn’t want to leave you. Were his exact words to me.‘ Debbie told her ‘We are prepping to move Christy to her

suite. The Unit’s clearing the way as we speak, but there are a lot here right now, schools out and plenty of teens with wolves. It’s going to take some time.
‘Alright, best you tell Brent to get my drugs ready then… she sighed a little on the heavy side. “As for her going into heat and how it happened… We came across Christy this morning. After I sensed my heat, she was in the elevator when it opened for me… She moved on quickly, apologized even. I guess that could trigger it. That was how it was triggered last time, I believe.’
‘Hmm, there was another option mentioned though… Debbie murmured, ‘But she’s been with me all day, even sat and had lunch with me. The only time she was out of my sight was when she ducked off to the bathroom on the way back from afternoon tea… so…
‘Don’t blame her, Debbie, it’s just something I fear is going to happen from now on. Our heats are going to coincide is all. Anthony will have to choose from now on. Maybe it’s the Goddess punishing him of her own accord for being such a dick.
She heard Debbie snort and smiled herself ‘Best you tell him what it is you want yourself. I’ll inform Brent.‘
And the link was cut.
