She’d stood and watched them leave, then just sighed and tilted her face up to the sun, “It’s going to be cold winter.” She’d murmured.
“You’ve still got us, Mischa,” Letti had stated. “Becca and I, we’re your unit.”
She’d nodded. “Don’t let Christy hear you say that. Likely to de–rank you and kick you from her office.” Then she’d gone inside and sat and closed out those four files. A part of her wanted to close out her own, but if she did that, he’d know she, too, was going to leave. She spent that day and night documenting everything in her Luna’s Diary and then mocked up a pack–wide e–mail to tell the pack goodbye, to please never mention her name inside the pack anymore, to not go and ask Anthony why she left or was gone.
That she believed they all understood why deep down inside, as did their Alpha, this was what he wanted, to only have Christy by his side. Only he was too gutless to verbalize a rejection and ask her to leave the pack, because it would make him look selfish to his allies.

Se, she left of her own accord. That if they wanted to leave due to the now poor management of the pack, Alpha Nicholas of the Rising Blue Lotus was opening his pack to those wanting a new home, he’d offered all those that wanted to leave sanctuary when he realized himself the leadership was falling apart.
That if they wanted to leave but didn’t want to go to Alpha Nicolas‘ pack, they could, of course, return to home packs if they’d been mated into Night Whispers, or go to a siblings pack if they had them in other packs. That they did not need Alpha Anthony’s permission to leave, just pack and go at their own discretion, morning, afternoon or night, whenever they wanted to, as was their prerogative to do so.
They, of course, could stay here in the Night Whispers pack if they wished, but then also told them how it would look to other packs that this pack’s entire Gamma bloodline had left, that to other packs it would
appear unhealthy and there were no Gammas because the leadership had gotten rid of them, so they
could do as they pleased with its pack members.
Warned them that when the allies found out, alliances would likely start falling away from the pack, and it
would then become open to more pack attacks and possible take–overs by other Alphas. To keep themselves safe, she then wished them well and then apologized for what had happened to the pack over
the past three years.
It would be her final words to the pack, only she didn’t include the leadership in it, scrolled the very long list of names and deleted Anthony and Christy’s names from it. This was just from her to the pack members. Not to her Mate or to his other Mate she had nothing more to say to them, so she simply did
not include them in the e–mail.
She would hit the send button right before she left the pack. She looked at her suite and wondered what she should take with her, nothing she’d bought while with him or that he’d gifted to her over the course of their 23 years together. That could all stay here. so likely just a single suitcase of clothing.
She walked about and knew she wasn’t going to pack. There was no actual point in it, everything here would just remind her of her life with him pre and post Christy arriving. She didn’t need the memories of either. So, leaving would be as simple as packing one suitcase and nothing more. She sat and documented in her Luna Diary for what she knew was going to be the very last time. She thought about what it should say, and only four words came to mind, it’s time to go.‘ so that was all she would write,‘ October 18, 2026: Laud and I agree, It’s time to go. Were the words of her final log, she closed it and placed it with the others.
She left them on her desk in a neat stack of three diaries; one for each year that Anthony had been mated to both her and Christy. No more did she need to document anything about what went on inside this pack.
When she rejected him and left, it was likely he’d come up here and go through her things, though she wasn’t going to make it easy for him, wasn’t going to change the code on the door. He could figure that one out himself. It wasn’t anything special at all, had no meaning to her, it was just four random numbers. She’d pulled out of thin air 4816, she had pressed the 4, then doubled that number, which was 8, and doubled that, which was 16. Simple and easy to remember, but meant absolutely nothing.

Mischa was walking through the pack, Yeturning to the packhouse after a pup had been born, as she’d been requested to go and do the Luna Blessing by Brent, and even though shit had hit the fan, she’d not be lax in her duties to the actual pack members, so had gone and attended to it, used his computer to log in and document it, done what was part of the Luna’s duties that were now up to Christy.
But she’d found over the past few months, Christy wasn’t called on for Luna Blessings; hadn’t been for almost a solid year, none of the pack’s she–wolves wanted their child to be blessed by Christy since her stint in the cells. So every pup that was born was still being Blessed and documented by Mischa.
She doubted very much that Christy even knew how many pups were being born or that they had been born at all. But this was something she did not ignore; she wasn’t jax in her duty, so if a pack member mind–linked directly to her and asked Mischa for advice, she would go to them at their home or give
advice down the mind–link.
Now, as she walked into the packhouse, she came to a halt as she saw Christy trailing Anthony. He still
looked ticked off to her, and why wouldn’t he when that one announcement he’d made had seen 64
wolves leave the pack over a day and a half?
She stopped walking because she didn’t want him to see her, and if she didn’t move he wouldn’t actually realize she was there. Couldn’t smell her or feel her. It always came as a shock to him to lay eyes on her and not only realize she was there, but likely also suddenly remembered he had another Mate outside of
Christy.
Christy, however, saw her and then stated, “Anthony, I’m sorry, but everything will be fine. I’m going to apologize to the pack, we’ll call a full meeting this evening, and I’ll apologize to them all. I never meant for that to happen. I was just emotional I guess, but…” she grabbed onto him and then stepped in front of him, stopping him from walking.
“You felt it to and were annoyed, how the pack barely acknowledged your announcement of the heir to the pack being on the way. It was disrespectful to both you and I, to our heir, a handful of congratulations. So yes, I lost my temper, a momentary lapse in my composure was all it was.
“I’m the reigning Luna and you are the Alpha and the pack should be happy about this and show it.” she sighed. “And yes, I admit I stated something I shouldn’t have, but I was so excited for the news to be told to the pack, and they didn’t seem to care… you were more than annoyed yourself.”
“Yes, but you don’t say things like that out loud, you may think it but never voice it. Holding one’s tongue at times, all Alphas and Lunas must do this, or there is fallout; which you just learned the hard way.”
“I did.” Christy nodded. “It will not happen again.” She told him and then smiled at him a little, reached out and took his hand, placed it on her belly. “Our heir will be good and strong, it’s a boy I just know it is, and he’s the future of this pack. The future Alpha of Night Whispers.” She smiled up at him now.
She watched Anthony frown deeply and then remove his hand from Christy’s belly. “Best, you only have

girls, and that pup is not the Heir to the pack. Only Mischa can give me a son, and only he can be the Heir to the pack.”
Oh, hell no! Shot through Mischa’s mind as she realized he was, as Paul stated, going to hold her here forever bound to him, never let her go. There was no way in hell she was going to give him a son, not any damned pup at all. She’d made that very clear.
She turned and was gone from the packhouse, didn’t stick around to hear the rest of that conversation,‘ Oh, it’s definitely time to go. Laud stated, and they were leaving. if he wanted to be bound to her forever, then so be it. He could have his way, only they’d make sure he’d never have her ever again.
She went right to the garage, grabbed her car keys from the hook and got in it and left that pack. She didn’t even stop to collect her handbag. She had her phone in her pocket and everything she needed was on there. Digital copies of her driver’s license and her digital bank card. She had everything she needed to leave on that phone, so it was all she would take. Nicholas was going to reinvent her anyway, so it didn’t matter that she was leaving everything else behind, it would be useless in a matter of days or weeks.
The gate opened for her as she left, the guard smiled and waved at her like he’d done a million times
before, and she nodded to him in return just like she always did.
She’d told herself she’d know the moment to leave, when it came. That moment was now, hearing him
stating only she could produce an heir to the pack, telling Christy his and her pups would never be the heir
to the pack.
He’d just put a target on her
