“You work too much, Mischa.” Anthony sighed. “Are you purposely adding extra work to your schedule just to avoid me?” he asked, “Because you’re still mad at me.”
“No, I’m not on purpose using work to avoid you. I admit I did at first, but now I’m simply doing what I said I would at that mating ball, to help create less waste of pack funds… And yes, I’m still mad about what you did.
“Something like that will take time to get past. I’m not so mad that I won’t talk to you, or eat with you, as I was when you came off that shaming post now am I, so I’d say we’re making progress.” She told him and placed that contract down on the desk.
“I am trying to make it up to you, but you don’t make it easy, Mischa,” he muttered.
“Should I make it easy for you? Is that how you see it? That my pain and suffering, your unjustified accusation, they should just be swept under the rug. That my feelings about it shouldn’t matter. That I don’t have the right to make you work to earn my trust back. Do you think I should just smile and say I forgive you, and blindly let you walk all over me?”
“No,” he shook his head. “But maybe a little more leeway would be good, and by that I mean allowing me to spend time with you, so we can reconnect properly is all. I’m not saying forgive me now, but please at least be willing to try and forgive me. Your indifference hurts me.” He looked at her. “More than I let on.”
“I wonder, Anthony, if I did what Chrisy did, who would you side with?” She commented, “I think about that quite a bit, because I’ve learned the hard way it’s Christy that gets everything. You have proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt. If I did that, and she asked you to reject me, I wonder, as I sit alone in my suite, if you would have granted her what she wanted and rejected me, for her.”
“I would not have. I would have done no less for you than I did for her. I don’t want to lose either of you,” he stated. “But you’ll never believe that because you’re going to use this one thing to hold over my head always aren’t you?” He muttered and there was a tinge of anger in
his voice.
Mischa smiled at him. “When I feel unloved and unwanted by you, you get angry about it… yet when Christy tells you that very thing, spills tears down her face, and she runs away like a spoiled child, and you go chasing after her and console and reassure her at every turn.”
“In case you hadn’t noticed Mischa, I’m currently chasing you, and you don’t care.” He bit out.
“Indifferent remember, I also recall telling you, there will be no trying to reconnect with you until Christy is out of the cells. Because only then can I actually see if you mean it, or if this is

all just an act on your part because you’re lonely and have to sleep by yourself and don’t like
it.
“Let’s see if you can still put in all this effort to regrow our fractured bond once your precious Christy is sobbing about you not spending enough time with her, calling to you when you’re supposed to be spending time with me. I’ll wait and see if you will just go back to being all about Christy and ignoring me, neglecting our bond once more.
“Right now, you’re just lonely, and sleeping by yourself, and you don’t currently like it, is all. I imagine once Christy is out of the cells, you’ll spend all your free time with her like you normally do, sleeping in her bed every night just like before. I’d like to see if, once she’s out of the cells, you can sleep separately from her, one night with her in her suite and one night alone in the Alpha Suite. I doubt it.” She shrugged.
“It won’t be like that. In four weeks, Mischa, you will see, I will prove to you, that you are just as important to me as she is,” he stated.
“Yes, I will see.” she nodded.
“Dinner?” he stated and stood up. “I have booked a restaurant in the city.”
“I’m not about to be seen as the ex-wife trying to come between you and your fiancée. So that isn’t going to happen.”
“Here in the private dining room then, I’ll speak to the chef,” he stated, and at her nod to say she’d go, he walked to the door, but then stopped and turned and looked at her. “You will not have Christy’s cuff removed this time.”
Mischa laughed softly at his very words, they amused her completely. “Why, can’t you not let her interrupt? It is you who lets that happen each and every time. You are the Alpha and can decline anyone connecting to you, including your Lunas, so allowing it is on you, not Christy.”
She smiled as she rocked that chair of hers and stared at him with full amusement. “It’s just my way of testing you, I’m not testing Christy. I know she will interrupt. It’s her thing. You are the one that allows her to continue to get away with it, and she even goes unpunished for it, regardless of you telling her directly not to interrupt.” Mischa shrugged. “Do you know why she continues that behavior, because you condone it, pure and simple.”
“Not tonight,” he stated flatly.

She chuckled once more, “Only because that cuff is on her, and she can’t, so you can’t. You’re using that cuff to save your ass. I find that amusing, just so you know.”
“Like I can’t see that,” he muttered, then stood staring at her for a full minute. “Fine, let’s play it your way, un-cuff her, and I’ll prove it, that she’ll not interrupt even once.”

“Challenge accepted,” Mischa nodded. “Same rules as before, an extra day in the cells for every time she attempts to connect with you. You have to be honest about it, put pen to paper say a scoresheet, to note each time you feel her trying to connect with you. I’ll have the cell guard sit and watch her as well to make sure you don’t cheat.”
“You don’t trust me at all,” Anthony muttered.
“Nope, you broke that completely,” she stated as she smiled at him.
“7pm.” Anthony stated, and then banged out of her office and into his.
She laughed softly into her office, ‘Awe, it’s not so fun, is it? When you realize your own Mate no longer gives a damn how you feel, she got up and opened her office door to the foyer, so the pack could once again see she was available if they needed her.
Their last private dinner hadn’t gone so well, and she was pretty certain this one would be no different. Though she wondered if Anthony knew he had a tell when it came to someone attempting to establish a mind-link to him. His chin lifted ever so slightly as the sensation of
the mind-link connection caught his attention.
She made the arrangements with the cell guard. It was Tommy once more, and he chuckled, ” You sure, Luna, the Alpha was in a rage for ages after you did that last time.”
“He was the one to suggest it. I just need you to sit and watch her, see how many times she attempts to connect with anyone. Mark it down and report it when I let you know you can
cuff her once more.”
“Alright,” he stated, and she dropped the link.
She walked into the private dining room that evening dead on 7pm and smiled at him, “That cuff will come off at five past seven.” She told him and walked over and sat down.
He held up a pen and a note pad and then placed them down on the table next to where he
was to sit. “Wine,” he asked.
“Sure,” she stated, and watched him pick up a bottle of red wine and pour her a glass. Someone had remembered what she drank. Though she also knew he was accessing her social media page and liking all her posts of late. Something that did show her like for red wine, and Kendrick’s Mate, Letti, had remarked in one post, ‘Bloody alco, you didn’t even share
that bottle.’
She’d laughed at it and added a comment herself, ‘Hmm, I did not, but I got me another. You want a glass come on up.’ The girls had all come to her suite and had a glass with her.
She watched him go and sit across from her, where he smiled at her. “I asked the chef to

make you a medium-rare pepper steak with garlic butter roasted baby potatoes, snow peas and honeyed carrots.”
“Ah, how much did it hurt to have to put your brainpower to sift through everything you hold about Christy to find something about me?” She smiled, uncaring for the insult she was giving. “What else?” she asked might as well see just how much he could recall about the things she liked.
“Testing me Misch?” he leaned back in his chair.
“Might as well, you couldn’t recall at all the last time we were in this room. Did you sweat up a storm racking that brain of yours?” she half laughed.
She watched his head tilt slightly. “The cuff is off,” Anthony stated, “Let the test begin.” He picked up his glass and held it out to her. “May you win the game Mischa.”
She just nodded and waited, and saw that tell of his as their entrée of bruschetta with prosciutto, ricotta and fresh basil was placed in front of him. She saw him thank the staff and then reach out and mark that note pad, then looked at her, and she smiled. “Didn’t take very long. She was informed we were having dinner and not to interrupt by Tommy. Couldn’t even wait…” She looked at her watch, “Four minutes. That’s two extra days in that cell now, on top of her nine weeks. She keeps this up, and she could see herself still in there when she goes into heat, and have to suffer it alone.”
“Is that what you’re looking to do, Mischa, make her suffer like you did?” Anthony asked.
“Not at all. I wouldn’t wish that on any she-wolf, it was utter agony by the end of it. I’m just curious if she is willing to do that to herself, and who she’ll blame for it. She was told the consequences, knows when her next heat is due yet still incurs extra days by breaking the
rules.”
He nodded and picked up his entrée as did she “I am curious as to if she keeps this up. When should I stop her and have her re-cuffed? Or do you want to see for yourself just how insistent she is on interrupting your spending time with me. Even though she knows the consequences. Or if she thinks because your punishment is complete, you’ll not only be able to excuse her from extra punishment? But that you will do that for her.”
“I will not be,” Anthony stated as she watched that tilt of his chin once more.
She shook her head even before he reached for the pen, “You know when she does it,” he murmured.
“Yes, you have a tell.” She smiled and sipped her wine. That came from being bonded to him for 22 years.

There dinner moved on and six times Christy was marked down by him as interrupting their dinner over the course of just one hour. “An extra week it is.” Anthony murmured as they walked from the private dining room. “Feel free to tell Tommy dinner is over.”
She did that and Tommy relayed ‘six attempts Luna. She’s pissed off down here, just so you
know.’
‘I bet.’ Mischa chuckled softly.
