The Eclipsed Life of Luna Mischa (by Jennifer Francis) novel Chapter 54

The day passed quietly for her, no babies were born, and the newly rolled out system for pack members working inside the pack, it had generated its first report, and she spent time going over it during the morning. She could already see where things could be scaled back in certain areas, and where they needed more pack members.
She printed it out and sat and made notes on what she saw and attached them to the report, and then walked it into Anthony’s office and placed it on his desk for him to review and read her suggestions. See what he wanted to do about it, if he agreed with her assessment or not and wanted to enact certain changes right away or wait another month and see if things still look the same or were different.
She ate with her Luna’s unit and Letti, Carol and Rebecca were even quiet today. She smiled at them. “You know you don’t have to tip toe around what today is.” she told them “Just speak your mind to me, I’m all good with you all doing that.”
“We know Mischa.” Letti had nodded. “It’s not that.” she sighed a little.
“Then what is it?” Mischa asked.
“How are we supposed to trust Christy or treat her when she gets let out of the cells…” Letti sighed. Only this time it was quite heavy. “We get that Anthony still wants her here, but that doesn’t mean we don’t understand what she did, can just blip over it or pretend it didn’t happen.”
“Hmm, difficult it will be,” Mischa agreed with her. “That was something I don’t think Christy nor Anthony considered I dare say. That you three might not want to work alongside her ever again.” She shook her head, “Although you won’t have to for the next 12 months anyway.”
“Why?” They all frowned at her.
“Because Debbie has agreed to take Christy for a year and oversee her Luna Training, actually make her sit down and do it, not just ignore me, and leave the pack anytime she likes, and not attend her training.” She smiled. “Five days a week, 9am to 5pm. Full-time study has been allocated to her, and she’s not allowed to come and sit in the Luna’s office until she has completed the training and passed all of Debbie’s tests.”
“Well, that is good, but what happens after that?” Carol asked.
“I don’t know, I’m not looking that far ahead to be honest with you. So let’s just wait and see how she handles the Luna Training, and pick up this discussion after she passes everything. It could take her years, for all we know, with the way she is. Though Debbie will report that, right to Anthony himself.

“It’s kind of what I think will happen, and then how can he keep defending her? If she doesn’t actually complete the Luna Training, if it’s proven she doesn’t want the actual job, just wants the title and the money to go with it, then surely he has to see she’s not Luna Material and cut her loose right.”
They were all just staring at her, and she smiled. “Yes, I’m letting her dig an even deeper hole than she’s already dug. It’s likely just a matter of time before Anthony sees her true colors. I’m not so rash, we live long lives and I can sit and wait it out. To see if he keeps his word.”
“You’re going to have to watch her all the time.” Rebecca sighed. “She can’t be trusted and doing that is tiresome.”
“You’ll likely have to watch yourselves as well. If she sees you’re only going to be loyal to me, she could target you in some form,” Mischa nodded. “There, however, is not much that can be done about it. She was formally punished, and I am hoping that maybe that punishment will actually see her change her ways.
“That she will learn from this. I did have words with her the day she was put in the cells. So I’m kind of hoping they’ll sink in, and she’ll pull her head in.”
“I don’t see that happening,” Carol muttered. “Neither does Paul, and her extra week in the cells.” She sighed. “Tells you, all of us that she’s still willing to break pack laws.”
“I’m aware of that,” Mischa nodded. “She’ll only get away with it for minor things, and if she comes at me again, nothing will save her. I’ll not grant leniency for her again, regardless of what Anthony wants or any pleading he does. I’ll simply call for a full pack vote if he can’t accept the decision, which he also agreed to; that she wouldn’t get another chance. If he renegs on that, it won’t just be Christy that I call the pack vote for.”
Again they were all staring at her. “We’ll end up with no Alpha, and only you, Mischa, to run the pack.”
“Yes, and that is exactly what I told her, though… I implied it was what I was looking to do, to see Anthony defend her again, so I can get rid of them both. I told her she could have him, and they would be banished together and leave with nothing. That I will claim the pack and reign over it myself.”
Their eyes were a little on the wide side and Mischa chuckled softly, “Implied, it’s not what I want. I said it to make her think about what any further actions against me would see happen. She likes the title and the money. Wants it all for herself.
“I have a feeling she would rather keep those two things than leave the pack with her Mate, who is de-ranked and has nothing to his name. Kind of betting on that to keep her in line,” she told them.

“I saw the invite, I was unhappy about the cost to this pack, ten thousand a plate, all of us, that’s 80 thousand.” She sighed. “There had better be investors there for him to schmooze with, a few handshake deals made throughout the night to make some of that money back.” She half muttered.
“There are from what Kendrick stated.” Letti nodded. “Try not to let the money side of it bother you.”
“Hmm, you’re talking to the pack accountant. I can’t help but be concerned.” She muttered, and the girls chuckled softly, though at least it was tax-deductable being as she’d claim it as a donation to that charity it was for.
The day moved on, and she was in her office when the Elders walked in. “It’s time, Mischa,” May stated.
“Right, do I have to go?” she asked.
“Yes, you or Anthony must be present. He’s currently in the city, so it falls to you,” May informed her.
She sighed and stood up. “I don’t really want anything to do with her anymore.”
“We understand and feel the same way,” Simone acknowledged. “However, this was agreed upon by all parties.”
Mischa nodded, and they headed for the cells, where she found Christy just sitting in her cell, still huddled in that blanket. She looked dirty, and there was noticeable weight loss, in her, there were no snacks or grazing on whatever she liked all day long. Just three set meals.
Christy looked at them all, as she was addressed by Debbie, “Christy, your punishment has been attended to… You will be released by us the Elders with Luna Mischa’s permission. Due to Alpha Anthony not currently being inside the pack.”

“Why’s he not here to do this himself?” Christy asked.
“He’s attending a business meeting in the city,” Mischa stated simply.

“Christy, a word of warning from us the Elders, your behavior showed traitorous tendencies, and any signs of more traitorous behavior, regardless of how small, will see us invoke a pack vote for your dismissal and a forced rejection from Anthony, then you’ll be banished from this pack.
“If you dare to try and harm Luna Mischa in such a manner ever again, your head will be removed from your body and by Anthony himself, even if we the Elders have to force him to do so. Do you understand this warning in full?”
Christy nodded slowly, “Yes, I was wrong, I admitted that already. It won’t happen again, I assure you. I have learned my lesson and will be a model pack member from here on out.”
“You had better be,” Debbie stated, and then unlocked and opened the door. “You are now also my student for the next year. Where you will attend Luna training to my liking, in my office, and you will not sit in the Luna’s seat within the Luna’s office until I deem you 100%
competent.
“You will not be attending any Luna Duties at all. If Luna Mischa is out of the pack for some reason, I, Simone or May will step up and attend to them until your training is complete.” Debbie informed her of how things were going to go.
“Fine,” Christy nodded and walked for the door to the cells. She looked right at Mischa as she stepped out the door. “My apologies Mischa, I wronged you completely.” She stated as that silver cuff was removed.
“You did.” Mischa nodded and turned and walked away from her. She had no interest in walking or talking with that she-wolf unless it was deemed utterly necessary. They all returned to the packhouse, and she found the Luna’s Unit all standing there waiting for her.
Letti waved a bottle of red wine at her and Carol was holding several bags of candy, while Rebecca had two buckets of popcorn, “Girl’s night Mischa.” They all chorused.
She smiled and nodded. “Sure, I could use that,” she stated. She knew Christy and the Elders had followed her in through the door and would all see and hear them. She had a feeling it was the Luna’s unit’s way of telling Christy whose side they were on.
“Your new suite has a theater room for four,” Carol grinned, “No need for us to go to the
movie theater.”
“That it does.” Mischa nodded. “Go on up girls, I’ll meet you there,” she told them. “I’ve still got one thing to attend for Christy’s release.” Which she did.
