The Eclipsed Life of Luna Mischa (by Jennifer Francis) novel Chapter 70

She was connected to Anthony via a pack–wide mind–link two hours after he returned to the pack. As he addressed the pack, ‘I, your Alpha, have something to say to all of you… Luna Christy may have gone into heat last week, but nothing has been seen, heard or scented out by myself or my wolf that confirmed she is currently pregnant with the pack’s heir.

‘Please stop congratulating myself or Luna Christy and wishing the pup would be healthy or a boy. If and when either of my Lunas conceive an heir to the pack, I will be the one that officially announces it to you all.

‘It is a nice thought, I understand this, but nothing has been confirmed. I reiterate that I do not hear a heartbeat, and Luna Christy does not scent differently to me to indicate she is with pup. Luna Christy has now told me herself she doesn’t know if she is or isn’t. Her own wolf has not detected anything either.

‘She is simply happy to be with pup if one was conceived is all. I have asked her to curb the pup talk and the way she places her hand to her stomach. To not bring it up at all unless it is confirmed in full. She may, of course, think about it and be happy to think about us having a pup. But she is to keep that to herself unless it is proved to be true, as most do…

‘As for Luna Mischa’s announcing her blessing over it, that came from a simple misunderstanding which led to her believing Christy was pregnant. I am, of course, very happy to know that Mischa would be happy for Christy and I to have a pup.

‘However, as for Christy moving into the Alpha Suite… as you’re all likely aware by now, Mischa now resides in a suite of her own and not inside the Alpha Suite, as she once did. Has done so for a year now. This will stay that way. I have made the decision that only when I become a father will either one of my Lunas move into the Alpha Suite.

‘This was decided on by myself, so that I will also have my own suite now, to keep things of equal standing for both of my Lunas… since it has come to my attention that I’ve not been seen as a good fair Alpha Mate.

‘So, I will have a suite of my own, which neither Luna will enter, just like they do not go into each other’s suites. I understand I’m in the wrong for not seeing things be fair and equal between myself and my two Mates, and I am trying to be a better Mate to both of them.

‘Please grant me the time to correct my ways and make amends. I did upset Luna Mischa once more, it appears… I will work on not only myself but our Mate Bond. I know you all see that it is broken as much as I do. Again, something that is my fault, and I need to fix. Mischa has a very large, forgiving heart and has promised me she will not leave me. Do not fear that she and we will reject each other. This will not be happening,

‘Mischa’s word is her bond. She’s never, to my knowledge, broken a single promise to myself or any of you. You all heard what happened, and I know why I was punished. That something like that takes time to be granted proper forgiveness. I assure you all, I am not going to stop trying to make amends.

‘I admit I have slipped up once more, but I am trying and will continue to do so. As you’re all aware, it is no simple thing, not something that the words “I’m sorry,” can just fix in an instant. Emotional and physical pain takes time to recover from, and sometimes even when moving forward… things will arise that will see one once more having to start all over again.

‘Only slowly can trust be re–established once it’s broken… I broke Mischa’s trust of a two–decade–long, loving mate bond, and now I have to acknowledge this and work on rebuilding it from the ground up. Not every mate bond is perfect, I’m certainly not perfect.

‘Hiccups along the way do happen, but we have very long lives and as long as we are bound together and never reject each other, our bond will regrow with effort, care and loving devotion. Something you all have seen over the past two and half months; that I have been putting in the effort to show Mischa I love her, and want us to stay together.

‘I am not willing to give up on our two–decade–long mate bond over something that was unforeseen to ever come about, and will not likely ever happen again. I apologize to all of you that live here inside my pack, and have seen myself… fall by the wayside, I guess you could

say.

‘I also apologize to Mischa for how it made her feel, and the harm she came to at my own lack of care and respect.’ Then the link was cut.

She shook her head a little as she sat there in her office. He’d just publicly acknowledged everything was his fault, but also announced to the entire pack she’d vowed to never reject him in the same breath, as well. That her word was her bond.

That just meant he understood clearly her words of never returning to the Alpha Suite, as much as Kendrick had. That it meant she’d officially left him and opted to voice it to the entire pack. This was his way of trying to force her hand. Telling the pack she’d never leave, they had long lives and so there was plenty of time for things between them to be fixed.

She wondered who it was that came up with that speech, or had he been out there in the wilds of rogue territory, away from both his Mates, where he could feel very different with distance, about certain things and had used that distance to clear his head and think about what he’d done.

Only to come back to a shit storm and have to clarify things, and not just to her, but to the entire pack, because he’d yet again broken his word to her, and so giving it to her meant nothing at all as far as she was concerned. So, he had to give it to the entire pack to hold

himself to it, she supposed.

She’d told him she’d believed he’d go back to his old ways and now that was proven beyond a doubt. Christy was back in his orbit and he couldn’t seem to see past her to where Mischa was; it was like he was the sun, she was the moon and Christy was the planet between them, only this particular planet stopped and stayed in place, to keep the moon out of site, this particular planet’s natural orbit caused a constant Lunar Eclipse.

But this, what he’d done, allowed Christy’s pleading to sway him. That was the very reason. she’d not let him get close to her over the time Christy was in the cells. Why she was just stepping aside willingly, like she’d told him she would, because she believed it was something he wanted.

Anthony knew he couldn’t actually fix what he’d done, in ruining them now. So he was

constraining her to their Mate Bond with her own words. But what he didn’t seem to understand was that just because she’d promised not to reject him, didn’t mean she wouldn’t leave him.

His word to her was no good, so why should she be made to hold true by him? Why should he be allowed to force her to keep her vow, when he couldn’t hold himself to his own.

She looked up 30 minutes later when he walked into the Luna’s office. His hand was curled around Christy’s wrist and that she–wolf looked more than upset. Mischa knew it wasn’t

faked either, she understood fake from real where this she–wolf was concerned. There was

actual pain in her expression.

“Out,” Anthony stated to her Luna’s unit, and they all kind of looked at him, to her and then Christy and got up and left the room. Letti closed the door behind her. Wolves knew when privacy was needed.

The moment it was closed, he flung Christy towards her desk and she watched christy barrel towards it uncontrollably and snap her hands out and stop herself from being slammed into

He’d used his full wolfen strength on his own Mate. That made Mischa frown. He’d never laid a hand on herself, and she could see as she looked at Christy there was mottling of a bruise

to her wrist where he’d had hold of her.

“Hurting your own Mate is unacceptable, Anthony,” Mischa stated. She might not like Christy, but he and Christy were bonded, and he shouldn’t do that ever. “Do you want two broken bonds? Instead of one. Are you turning into a brute?” she muttered.

“Speak,” Anthony grated out, ignoring her words. He didn’t even look at Mischa, he was still glaring at Christy.

“I’m sorry, Luna Mischa.” Christy sobbed as she pushed away from the desk and looked at Mischa. Her eyes were red and puffy, and she could hear pain in her voice, as she automatically used her other hand to cradle that bruised wrist. “I went out of my way to be seen by you, accessing the Alpha Suite.

“It was wrong of me to do something like that,” she stated, and then her eyes fell away, down to the floor as tears rolled down her cheeks. “I will not do it again.” She sucked in a breath. “I have only one suite. It is the Luna’s Suite as was agreed upon when I accepted being Anthony’s second Mate, and becoming a part of a three–way mate bond.” She stated and then bowed to Mischa and not just her head, but at the waist.

“I’m ungrateful for the blessing that Selena granted to me, to all of us and I will mend my ways. Lest I be removed from the bond and banished from this pack, by the Alpha himself,” Christy stated.

Mischa sat staring at her, she sounded like she actually meant those words, her tears were still falling, but there were no faked sobs to go with them. This was, she believed, the first time she’d actually seen Christy truly apologetic, or maybe… remorseful.

Mischa wondered if Christy had just come face to face with a near rejection from Anthony, or maybe he had actually voiced it, and he would only retract it, accept her back as his Mate if she was truly remorseful, if he could hear it and see it, not sense out a lie.

She moved her eyes to Anthony. His double filigree was still intact, so he’d not voiced anything, or she didn’t think so, he didn’t look to be in residual pain. He must have threatened it, was all she could think.

“I accept your apology.” Mischa stated, “Your wrist is it broken?” she asked. That bruise was still darkening in color, which was indicative of it being broken.

“No.” Christy shook her head. “Just…” she trailed off as Anthony walked across the room to look at it and Christy kind of moved it out of the way. That was also indicative of being hurt by a Mate.

“It looks broken or fractured to me,” Mischa stated. “Anthony take her to the pack hospital and have Brent x–ray it for injury. That is unacceptable of you, even if you’re angry with her. Not even I have laid a hand on Christy outside of formalized punishment,” she shook her head. “You disappoint me. I dare say you disappoint Christy as well,” she muttered.

“I’m sorry.” Anthony murmured to Christy, and she watched him lead her away from the office.
