Christy’s Injured
The morning of the Gala that Anthony insisted Mischa was to attend with him, and refused to allow Christy to attend at all. She’d heard them discuss it a few times over the past two weeks, Christy didn’t think it was right, because she was seen as his fiancée, so it should be her going, not Mischa.
This morning, right after training, Christy had put forth a new argument, about why they both couldn’t go and be amicable. There had been no issues between herself and Mischa for the past two and a half weeks now. That she–wolf had kept herself in full check for the past two and half weeks; she hadn’t gotten pregnant from her heat.
Mischa had stood there listening to them discuss it, leaned on the wall by the Luna’s office door because Anthony had brought her into the discussion; which had happened in the Alpha’s office.
Mischa had told him at hearing this discussion, “Christy can go, I don’t mind.” And she didn’t, not really, she’d told him it should be Christy before.
Christy had stated, “See, if Mischa is okay with us all going and being seen there, why aren’t you?”
Anthony had looked at Christy and stated, “She’s not offering to go with us, Christy. She’s offering for you to take her ticket and go in her place; I only bought eight tickets there is no spare. Do you really want to do that, want to be seen as taking something from Mischa. That I want her to have?” he’d asked.
Christy had frowned instantly and then looked at Mischa; she’d shrugged. “I told him long ago that you should go with him, it’s best not for us to be seen out in public together, we’re divorced to the humans.”
“Separated.” Anthony corrected her, and she heard the annoyance in his tone. “I’ve never once admitted we are divorced… Christy, you’ll just stay here inside the pack, it’s one event you can deal with it. Mischa’s been dealing with it for well over a year now. Can’t you suck up one
event?”
She’d watched Christy just huff and leave the office, and she’d turned to walk away herself.
Only to see Anthony go racing at full wolfen speed out the front doors of the packhouse, with Kendrick and Dereck hot on his heals, two hours later something was going on, and she’d not been notified, but nothing made an Alpha move like that other than an attack on the pack.
She didn’t get any alerts about that kind of thing and stood up to walk out of her office to find out what was going on. Paul strolled out of the Alpha’s Office, and she looked at him

questioningly. “What’s going on?” she asked.
“Christy’s been injured out there in the pack and needs medical attention,” he stated.
“You didn’t go?” she asked.
“Technically not her Gamma, she did state that herself and until she revokes it, I’m not going. “he shrugged as he walked over to her.
Mischa shook her head, “What happened, exactly, do you know?” She asked.
“All I know is she went out for a run, wanting to be alone after not getting to go to the Gala, and now she’s injured, broken her legs I believe.”
“Legs? As in both of them.” she frowned. “How the heck does something like that happen?”
“She fell into the canyon that cuts through the pack is all Anthony got out before racing off.” Paul shrugged, then he connected a mind–link to her ‘if it’s a lie, she won’t want me out there anyway. I’ll pick that up.‘
She nodded slowly. ‘Anthony is likely to beat you senseless if it’s not, and you don’t go.‘ She
warned him.
‘Yes, I’m aware, so I’ll wait and see, tell him myself she told me I wasn’t her Gamma and doesn’t need me. Those very words are documented as well. Why don’t you ask her if she wants me out there? If she says no… how she got injured is likely to be a lie now, isn’t it!‘ he
offered.
‘Who’d she connect to for help?‘ Mischa asked curiously.
‘I believe, just Anthony, he told us, and I linked Brent myself to prep the hospital staff.‘
She dropped the mind–link. “Getting her out of that canyon could be an issue.” Mischa murmured, though they did have gear for that, and some parts of the canyon were quite high. She stayed out of that rescue, seeing as neither Anthony nor Christy bothered to actually let her know officially. That to her meant he was dealing with it and didn’t need her help, but when she tried to connect herself to Christy, it was cut off. She could, however, feel there were others connected to her, likely to be Anthony and Brent.
“I can’t get through. The link was cut off.” She stated, you’re my witness that I did try. She looked at her watch to note the time.
Paul nodded. “I’ll try then as well.” She watched his eye glaze over, and he was connected to someone. When he came back, he shook his head. “I got through to Anthony but not Christy. It’s the doctor and one of the rescue team in contact with her. He wants me out there, but Chrisy stated what good would it do, if I wasn’t in the gorge with her, so to just leave it, not to

risk my life trying to rush down there and get to her, just have the pack doctor with pain relief waiting for her.”
She shook her head, “Does that girl not know you can work through that link?”
“Oh, I’m betting she does, and that’s why I’m not needed. But at least now, Anthony knows it was her that told me not to go. That’s what three times now.” he shook his head.
She and Paul returned to their own duties. If they weren’t needed, then they weren’t getting involved. She didn’t bother to contact the hospital and make sure the Luna’s Medical Suite was ready. That should be sorted just knowing one of the Lunas were injured, and she knew they all knew there was lots of pack chatter about the rescue going on.
It took many hours just to retrieve Christy and get her back to the hospital, because they didn’t have a rescue helicopter, so it was a full abseil rescue to be attended to, and setting that up in a safe area, making sure those doing the rescue were safe as well. And from what she heard, it wasn’t just two broken legs. Her left leg had the bone protruding through the skin, something that couldn’t be healed by her wolf and would need surgical intervention. She also had several broken ribs and a fractured left arm, a concussion and many abrasions and bruising.
She did make her way down to the pack hospital post retrieval and surgery to look at Christy, lying there still sedated with Anthony sitting at her bedside. The girl was black and blue all over, which meant her wolf was still sedated as well. Though she did know that surgery had just ended 10 minutes ago. So her wolf was either only just awake or they’d opted to keep them asleep for a bit longer.
“Not good.” She murmured from the doorway. She did not step into that room. It wasn’t her place and she didn’t think Christy would want that.
Anthony’s eyes moved from Christy to Mischa. “No,” he shook his head. “I’ll not be attending the Gala tonight,” he told her.
“I know and understand why.” She nodded, that was to be expected. “Did she say how it happened?” she asked curious herself, about that very thing.
“What’s that supposed to mean? Look at her, do you think she did this to herself on purpose?
“He bit out.
Mischa raised both her hands in a surrender gesture. She was simply curious, and those injuries were real. She didn’t think Christy would actually throw herself into the packs canyon just to get Anthony’s undivided attention, or to see him not go to that Gala tonight just because Mischa was attending it. That would be plain stupid, and she could have killed herself.

“I will leave,” she stated. “Where abouts in the canyon? I’ll organize a fence to be erected. It’s not the first time pack members have fallen in there,” she added.
“Don’t bother, I’ll do that when she’s healed up,” Anthony stated and turned back to Christy.
“Alright.” She nodded and turned and walked away from him. She could only think he probably thought she had a hand in it, but wasn’t going to voice it out loud, because he had no proof of that, she’d been in her office with her unit all morning.
She also never had anything to do with Christy and that girl had been the one that was angry about not going to the Gala, not Mischa. Christy had been the one that wanted to be on her own and gone for a run. Mischa hadn’t gone anywhere near her.
Over the course of her 40 years, she’d seen six falls into that canyon, though mostly it was at night and the edge of it got missed while wolves were playing or running about. She returned to the packhouse without so much as speaking to Brent about Christy’s injuries. It was clear to her, Anthony didn’t want her to know anything, or he’d have told her himself.
“We’ll still go to the Gala. Anthony will be staying here with Christy as is expected of one with an injured Mate.” She told both units “I’m, however, not letting the pack waste 80 thousand dollars, so all of us will be going. 10 thousand I can live with. Kendrick, I’ll leave it to you to
talk to the investors.” She advised them about how things were going to go.
“You know Mischa, you could probably talk about money and finance with them yourself.” He stated, “You used to do that all the time.” He smiled at her. “You might even be better at it than I am, so probably best that you prep for that.”
She thought about it for a long moment and then nodded. “I could, are the files for me to read here or in the head office. I’ll need to review them, so I know what to discuss. You’ll also need to note who each of them are and point them out to me, if I don’t know who they are.”
“I do have them here in the pack. It’s something we’ve been prepping for, for many weeks now.” Kendrick nodded. “I’ll go get them for you. Go over with them with you before we go and get dressed.
She nodded and looked at her watch. They only had two hours before they had to leave.” Bring them to my suite. I’ll shower and change sit and review them after that.
