The Eclipsed Life of Luna Mischa (by Jennifer Francis) novel Chapter 74

That’s not fair, Mischa, and you know it,” Anthony sighed. Christy was injured, had surgical intervention and was unconscious. No Mate leaves their Mate in the hospital to recover on their own.”

She raised an eyebrow at him even as she watched it dawn on him just what he was saying, and that he had done that in fact to Mischa herself. She shook her head. He could have used being in the hospital with Mischa as a way to not mate Christy and give her a break, but he’d

not.

Hmm, is that so

Mischa, don’t.” he cut her off. The circumstances were very different then to now,” he stated.

She dropped it. What did it matter anyway? Fine, she stated. On the topic of the gala, I worked three hours last night, plus the drive there and back. So that’s five hours of overtime that I’ve not accounted forThank you, Christy, for reminding me it wasn’t a date and was in fact work, so I guess that’s 53 hours this week and in just four days.

That’s bound to make anyone tired and grumpy right. How about we drop it and put my attitude and words down to that I don’t get the settling and calming effects that others in a mate bond do.she stated, and turned and walked away to her office. Her words weren’t aimed at Anthony not sleeping next to her, they were aimed at the fact that she didn’t feel his

love and care.

That just yesterday he’d snapped at her about Christy’s injuries, when she’d gone and asked the simple curious question of how she’d fallen into the canyon, in an effort to see a way to prevent it from happening again.

One that was in a proper healthy mate bond, felt settled and comfortable, relaxed around their Mate, even if they were just stopping to chat for a few minutes, it brought about a happy contentment to be in their presence, even during their busy work day. She didn’t get that at all, and she was certain that he no longer did either.

It was Saturday and her unit were off; she’d not changed their schedule. They worked Monday to Friday, as did all others inside this pack, like their own Mate’s did. She’d only gone out of her way to change her and Christy’s schedule, though she did know Debbie’s had changed to fit in with Christy’s.

She’d be alone for the majority of the day, and she didn’t mind it at all, liked the peace and quiet. She didn’t even care that Anthony was supposed to have had couples training with her

this morning but hadn’t woken her to attend it, that he’d not mindlinked to her about having breakfast with her either, as per his socalled new regime to make Sundays fairer.

He was she knew with Christy, it was her day to be with him, and he’d likely not had her discharged until now, so that he could use the excuse of being with her in the hospital, as was expected of him, to get out of spending time with her.

She spent the morning documenting the events of last night, listing the people she’d spoken to and about what. The handshake deal she’d made with Ms Latrell, and she added that meeting to her schedule, attached Letti, Carol and Rebecca to it. The four of them could go and have lunch in the city together that day.

The meeting was scheduled for 11am and would likely run for 30 to 60 minutes; to nut out what it was they wanted on each end of the deal, before handing it over to their lawyers to have contracts drawn up and then come back for another meeting to have all parties sign it.

She could probably put in a day to go to the Rising Blue Lotus, just to go and talk about contracts in person, which would see herself out of the pack for a day or two, maybe three. Though she would have to fit that in around Alpha Nicholasschedule.

She thought about that, he knew nothing of this deal as of yet, and as she walked from her office to stretch her legs and get some fresh air, she dialed Nicholas to give him a headsup and see what his schedule was like.

Only to see Anthony walking in through the front doors with Christy once more, she was carrying a large bunch of flowers and smiling, and he had several shopping bags in his hands. He’d taken her out shopping, it seemed, no wonder her day had been quiet.

The line connected as Anthony glanced at her coming from her office. She turned her eyes away from him, Hi, Nicholas, how are you? Sorry to call on a Saturday, but it’s a work day for me. Could you spare me five minutes?

Of course I can, Mish, Lucinda’s napping right nowAre you ready for me to send down mate bond severance papers? I’ve predrawn up everything for you, seeing as you also saved that pack and made half its alliances yourself, you’re entitled to half of it as far as I’m concerned,he stated with full amusement.

She smiled but stopped the chuckle that was trying to escape her. Nicholas was out to annoy Anthony at every turn it appeared, even though he had no idea if Anthony was anywhere

around to hear him.

She continued on her way without missing a step as she headed across the foyer, ignoring the sudden stopping of Anthony’s footfall, it was obvious he’d tuned his hearing into her phone call at hearing who she was talking to, and she heard Christy state, It’s my day with

you, there was a half whine to her voice, and she figured Anthony had stepped away from Christy and towards Mischa herself, not that she was looking at him.

No, Nicholas. She stated as she walked. “In our world that is not needed, do you have humans on the brain?she asked.

Mm, I just opened up into divorce law, you might like it yourself,” he stated. Wives get half of everything sometimes more.He chuckled.

I probably would,” she answered honestly. Not why I’m calling though. I made a handshake deal last night and will need your legal expertise the week after next. The actual meeting with Ms Latrell will be next Friday. I just wanted to see what your schedule looked like, is all,she stated as she walked out the front doors.

No need for that now. Just come to the pack, and we’ll chat over dinner. There’s no need for a formalized meeting. I’ll make time for you and your business deals,” Nicholas stated simply.

Alright, I’ll call when I need to come down, she answered.

And I’ll print that severance agreement for you to hand to Anthony, or I guess you could give it to Christy and show her just what you leaving him will do to the finances of that pack,” he snorted. I don’t think she really understands how quickly they’d be broke, and she couldn’t go spending money like she normally does.

If he wants to fight it, because he’s the Alpha to that pack, I could probably send him broke. Pull the Wolfen Council in to preside over it, as well as all your allies, as proof they struck those deals with you and not him, how hard you worked. I think there’s a possibility I could even get you that pack in full, depending on what went down inside that pack between the three of you recently.there was full amusement in his voice now.

I’m not at that point yet, Nicholas, but thank you for the full support, I’ll keep it in mind, she

stated.

Anytime, oh hey, while I have got you, you don’t need to call ahead ever. Lucinda’s

prearranged a suite for you here in our pack, down near Mary’s suite. Drop on by anytime for any reason. Short, long or even a permanent vacation. Bring half your pack if you like, we’ll accept any you bring with you.”

She smiled and shook her head, stated, Thank you,” and ended the call a few minutes later. She wondered if he was looking to expand his pack, and the easy way by the sound of that. What he’d just stated meant there would be no takeover, not warring at all, just whoever didn’t want to stay here under Anthony and Christy’s reign could go with her if she left and

went there.

Apart of her wondered just how many would do that leave with her? It was a curiosity to her, that she allowed her mind to ponder on while she stretched her legs, stopping to say hi and chat with pack members along the way. Tickled a few of the pack’s little ones as well.

She walked into the pack’s hospital on the way back and strolled along to Brent’s office and knocked on his open door.

Come in Mischa, what can I do for you?he asked.

I’d like to discuss Christy’s injuries if Anthony’s not vetoed it. He shut me down on it yesterday. Looked at me as if what happened to Christy was almost my fault. She shook her head as she sat down across from him.

Brent frowned at her now. There are no cameras out there, Mischa.”

I’m aware. She nodded. He didn’t actually say that, just the way he reacted to my asking about was all, bothered me. Were there anything odd about her injuries?she asked.

Not really?Brent shook his head. It wasn’t the highest part of the canyon, and where she was found most would survive the fall, with injury though.

Did she voice what happened to any of the nursing staff, yourself?she questioned.

Not to me, although from the mindlink I got, it’s not where I would have thought she’d be.He murmured thoughtfully.

Why’s that?she asked.

What I heard was she was out running offfrustration I guess, but if that was the case, how did she end up at the base of the canyon wall. Most who play around the canyon or fall into it while running are four to six meters from the canyon wall, not at the base, barely a meter from it.He shook his head. “It was odd, I was out there, and I didn’t see anything that indicated she dragged herself to the canyon wall either, the blood splatter was there at the

base where she was.

Mischa thought about that, Soa straight drop, down into the canyon, not a flying leap or one that didn’t see it coming when running full tilt in other words and shot off the edge and the momentum would take them further from the canyon wall?

Brent nodded, Her injuries, however, were very real. So she did fall into the canyon.

I don’t doubt that something like that can’t be faked, and you did do surgery, I just haven’t heard anything about the actual incident. So I can only guess that Anthony doesn’t want me to know the details of it, or have anything to do with it.

Perhaps he doesn’t want to say anything in his distress to see himself get punished by the

elders once more.Brent shook his head. Christy, I don’t think will voice anything after all that happened, It’ll see her head come off.
