They were in their car and driving away a moment later and Brent was quiet for several minutes before he stated, You know Mischa, you just agreed, without much thought, to not go home to the pack on our return flight. I don’t think Anthony would approve of that.

She looked at him, could hear the concern in his voice, and she didn’t think it was for Anthony. Are you worried that you’ll get into trouble if you return home without me?she asked, having a feeling that was more the problem, and she supposed if Anthony didn’t see her or feel her return when Brent did he might just go and question Brent.

I know I will.Brent sighed heavily.

It’s unlikely, Brent,” she stated herself. We’re not due until late at night. The flight gets in at 9pm and an hour to the pack. 10pm, he’ll be in bed with Christy, it’ll likely go unnoticed, because I’m certain Christy will make sure he’s distracted.”

That’s not the point. When he realizes you’re not there in the pack and I am, he’s going to

come and hunt me down to find out why.” Brent muttered.

She nodded. “I supposed he might. She thought about it for a minute. I’ll tell him that I’m going to another pack for a day or two to follow up on what Dana and I discussed. It’s not a lie at all, it is the actual truth of the matter.

He might think this is your way of leaving him.Brent sighed once more. “He did ask me privately to make sure to keep an eye on you for any signs of you not wanting to come back to the pack. This would count as that.

Mischa rolled her eyes now, And just what would you be able to do about such a thing if I did that? She shook her head. I outrank you, am your Luna, I could order you to walk away, to go home without me, to speak nothing of anything you saw or heard. Hell, I could order you to literally forget what you saw and heard.

So, other than you putting in a call to him, to tell him what you think I might be about to do, what can you actually do to stop me? He’s a full day away if he can get a flight instantly, which is unlikely from where we live, so not even Anthony could do anything about my leaving him if I opted to from this far away.Anthony’s head clearly wasn’t screwed on straight, losing his brain cells the longer he had Christy’s venom in him. She shook it off.

Though she found after some thought that she was more than annoyed by this turn of events, as she sat in the car and thought about what he’d asked Brent to do. Anthony, it seemed, still thought he could confine her to their Mate Bond and get away with it. Well, if he wanted a pissed off Luna, then he could have one.

You, Brent, may return on that booked flight home,” she told him as they got to the hotel in San Francisco, “I’ll go and speak with Madison on my own.

Brent looked at her worriedly as he caught the annoyed inflexion in her tone. Are you mad at me, Mischa?

Not at all, but I think someone needs to be taught a lesson about free will, and that I won’t be confined to his bidding any longer. And she wouldn’t be. She pulled out her phone as they stood in line to check into their accommodation and called Anthony.

Christy answered his phone, which told her that he was with her, or she had once again managed to gain control of his social media and was putting out her usual posts from his phone. Yes, Mischa?Christy asked.

Put him on the phone, Christy, I don’t care what he’s doing,Mischa stated right back.

He’s showering,” Christy responded.

Then walk the phone in there to him or bare the consequences,” Mischa warned her simply.

Christy snorted, You’re a million miles away. What consequences will I suffer? I’m here in the pack, I can’t possibly do or have done anything to you.

Okay, you remember those words.Mischa smiled now. The girl really didn’t disappoint, still just as dumb as always. It’s on your head now,Mischa stated, and clicked the line closed before Christy could even get another word out. Then she laughed softly to herself and shook

her head a little.

Mischa?Brent asked.

Oh, BrentLet the show begin. She snorted, fully amused. “Yes, you’ll definitely be going home by yourself now. You will not call Anthony and tell him anything. Let’s see if that bitch can come up with an excuse as to why he doesn’t know I’m not coming home.

She and Brent checked into the hotel. Their flight home wasn’t until tomorrow, and she canceled hers and then booked a new seat to Phoenix, Arizona. Filled in the online paperwork and checked her phone. There was nothing from Anthony, which likely meant Christy had deleted her call on his end not so bright.Because there was still a record of it on her phone and that it had been picked up and how long it had lasted.

He might not know about that call, but when he came at her about not coming home, she’d have proof she’d called him about it. Something she’d put right in front of him, ask him what time it would have come in for him, to do the time zone math, and then ask him what he was doing at that time, and who had his phone and picked up the call for him.

She also had Brent right there as a witness to say she’d called. It could have been an emergency for all Christy knew. She’d spoken with a formal tone that implied it was important, told her she’d have to bare the consequences even.

Mischa could have been, or was being hunted, and on her way to being kidnapped, and that was the one call to her Alpha Mate to get help, for all Christy knew, and Christy hadn’t put it throughAh! She thought about that very thing, maybe that was what Christy was hoping for. That something had happened to her and that she’d never come back.

If that was the case, then Christy hadn’t thought it all the way through either, because if someone did kidnap her, it wouldn’t just be a ransom, it would be brutalization as well. Something Anthony would feel in full as the pains of betrayal. Either before a ransom call or during it, as proof they had her in their clutches. Luna’s were high commodities for the black

market.

There would of course be none of that, but Mischa realized this was the perfect scenario to leave that Mate of hers. If she severed herself from the pack right now and used some sort of drug to stop her heart for the required time to have her filigree burn off.

Then she’d be free and clear of that, Mate of hers. She could just never return to that pack and Anthony would think she was dead and not even look for her. Could see it go wrong and actually die.Laud murmured, Plan B not plan A.her wolf told her firmly.

What?Mischa frowned a little.

Plan A is still good. Walk away and see how long before he notice, we not in pack, are gone from himI want to know how long it takes.Laud told her.

Mischa nodded, ‘Alright, plan A is a go. But plan B needs researching.’

Find right drug or person to help, Laud stated, one from outside pack.

So now they had two plans for leaving their Mate. She documented it in her diary; the phone call, the words and then her and Laud’s thoughts that followed on from that cut off phone call. So when he read it, he could see it wasn’t just her but also her wolf that was plotting and planning to leave him. He should know it wasn’t just her human side but her wolf as well.

She was sitting in the hotel restaurant with Brent having dinner when her phone rang later that night, and Anthony’s name appeared on the screen. She ignored it, even as Brent looked at her. Two can play Christy’s game, he’s going to call you in a minute and ask you where I am.” She told him. The show starts now, it’ll be fun for you to watch.

And where are you?Brent asked her.

Tell him to ask Christy. I called him earlier about my change of plans. She took the call.”

Mischa smiled as she picked up her glass of red wine and swirled it merrily about. Tell him I’m already on a flight. She chuckled softly.

Mischa.Brent sighed.

Alright, just don’t answer it at all,” she stated as her phone rang again, only this time Paul’s name appeared. She shook her head. Knew exactly what Anthony had done, gone to one he thought she would take a call from.

He thought she was ignoring him on purpose, in other words, and was using the packs Gamma to get her to pick up. He really was losing his brain cells being mated to that girl. Because she would obviously understand what he was doing if she was looking at her phone. He thought, just because Paul was her most trusted, she’d pick up regardless.

Though Mischa already knew that Paul would have told him if she didn’t want to talk to him, and was blatantly ignoring Anthony’s calls, that if anyone else from the pack called she’d not pick them up either, would know it was just Anthony on another’s phone or having them call her for him, and he was in the room listening.

Paul also knew what all her plans were, so it would be in his mind alright if she didn’t pick up a call or two, could be on the phone to another, or in a meeting in his eyes. Or more likely, in Paul’s eyes, she was just enjoying being out of the pack and didn’t want to have it interrupted by Anthony.

Brent’s phone rang a minute after Paul’s call went unanswered. Brent looked at it and turned it to face her, she could see the word Alpha lit up as the caller. Mischa smiled and shrugged, leaned back in her chair and motioned as though she was zipping her lips together.

She had to hold in a chuckle as Brent closed his eyes for a moment in response to her own actions. She knew he wasn’t about to dismiss the call. All calls from the Alpha must be answered by pack members, or it was punishable for dismissing him in such a manner; only an emergency would see no punishment laid out.

Brent wasn’t looking to be punished by Anthony, so she knew he would answer it, and she wasn’t looking to have him punished either, so she wasn’t about to stop him from taking the call. But was curious as to how he’d play it off.
