Evan had been putting on a show for no one—except Chuck, who hung on his every word. The problem was, Chuck wasn't the intended audience.
"Mr. Sterling, since Mr. Stewart has given you such...encouraging praise, you really ought to share a few more drinks with him later," Stefan said, his tone faux-serious but his eyes glinting with mischief. A sly grin played on his face.
A flicker of calculation passed through Evan's eyes, replaced by a smooth smile. "You're absolutely right. I should share a few more with Mr. Stewart."
A plan was forming in his mind—a perfect little scheme.
Stefan thought he could bleed Evan dry by ordering three more bottles? Just he wait.
Evan thought, a cold smirk hidden behind his glass.
The new bottles arrived promptly.
One server lingered for a moment, his gaze lingering on Stefan before he exited the Peak Chamber.
Once in the hallway, the server whispered to his colleague, "Doesn't that gentleman look familiar? The one from the other day in the Apex Room?"
"Now that you mention it...yes! I knew I'd seen him before."
"It must be him. The boss said if we ever see that guest again—the one with Ms. Reed—we're to inform him immediately."
"Quick, call the boss."

Ethan was across town when the call came through.
The moment he heard that that particular guest—the one associated with Nina—was dining at Drizzlewood Retreat, Stefan's face immediately sprang to mind.
"Mr. Bryant is here?" Ethan's voice was urgent. "Please tell me you seated him in the Apex Room."
"Sir, he arrived with another party—a man called Evan Sterling booked the Peak Chamber. We didn't recognize Mr. Bryant at first. They're nearly finished with their meal..."
"Use your eyes next time!" Ethan chided, though his focus was already elsewhere, "Don't disturb them. I'm on my way."
He ended the call and hurried towards his restaurant.
