The Ex-Con Who Conquered the World novel Chapter 119

Though Stefan was engaged to Sara, Zoey had no intention of helping him. On the contrary, she was secretly stirring the pot, eager for Marcus to humiliate Stefan publicly.

Stefan's disgrace, in a way, would also be Sara's disgrace—a prospect Zoey relished.

Marcus' face had turned a livid shade of gray, his eyes gloomy with fury. He truly hadn't expected Stefan to be this audacious.

In front of everyone, Stefan actually dared to talk about whether he would let Marcus off?

Marcus let out a cold, humorless laugh. His gaze swept over Stefan with contempt. "You're nothing but an ignorant fool. How dare you speak to me with such disrespect? Apologize now, or I'll make sure you crawl out of here tonight."

"Disrespect?" Stefan's voice was icy. "Who started this? I didn't provoke you. You're the one who came looking for trouble. And you think you can make me crawl? You don't have the right." He paused, a cold smile touching his lips. "But your suggestion about apologizing... that's not a bad idea. You should try it."

As he finished speaking, Stefan subtly flicked two fingers. Two invisible strands of true energy shot out, striking Marcus squarely in the knees.

"Ah!" Marcus cried out in shock and pain.

His legs buckled beneath him, and he stumbled forward, collapsing into an undignified heap on the floor right in front of Stefan.

"Well, well. Seems you know your place after all," Stefan remarked coolly, blowing a stream of smoke toward the kneeling Marcus. "Can't even stand on your own two feet when you're in the wrong."

A stunned silence fell over the onlookers.

What just happened? One moment, Marcus was posturing, the next he was on the floor.

"You... you bastard! You dare to cheap-shot me?" Marcus sputtered, his face alternating between pale fury and blotchy red.

He pointed a trembling finger at Stefan, straining with all his might to stand, but his legs felt numb and uncooperative. Remaining in this humiliating position before the crowd was a devastating blow to his pride.

"Cheap shot? Which of your eyes saw me do anything? I haven't moved an inch. You're the one who lost his footing. Seems your conscience got the better of you. Everyone here is a witness—did anyone see me lay a finger on him?" Stefan scoffed.

The crowd murmured, their eyes shifting uncertainly between the two men.
