The Ex-Con Who Conquered the World novel Chapter 129

Is that woman paying for him?

Zoey glanced at Nina's back, seething with jealousy and wariness. Bjorn's obvious favor toward Nina made it clear she was not someone Zoey dared provoke.

Meanwhile, Nina leaned slightly toward Stefan. "Stefan, is this little burner what you were looking for?"

Stefan knew what she was really asking. He smiled calmly, "Not sure yet. But it feels right—like it's meant for me. So I bid."

Nina nodded. She made a mental note: if anyone tried to outbid Stefan, she'd jump straight to ten million dollars. With her status, no one would dare compete. Then she could gift the burner to him.

Hazel's voice rang out from the stage.

"Four million dollars, going once. Any further bids?"

In the back row sat a man in black—the one who'd been bidding on the bronze burner earlier. He glanced at the item on stage, then at Stefan. After a moment's thought, he decided not to raise his paddle again.

Probably just rusted scrap. No real value. Not worth fighting over.

The gavel fell. Stefan had won the 11th-century BC bronze burner.

Next, the staff brought out a rosewood box. Exquisitely carved with flowers, the box itself was clearly valuable. Whatever was inside had to be something special.

Everyone leaned in, curious.

Hazel opened the box with a smile.

"And now, our next lot. Please take a look."

Instantly, a refreshing herbal fragrance filled the air, so invigorating it bordered on intoxicating.

Eyes widened across the room as everyone stared at the herb on display.

It was a deep, crystalline red—like blood diamonds—its leaves spreading like crimson wings. The scent continued to waft through the venue.

Stefan's eyes lit up. His heart raced.

Phoenix Blood Grass?
