“Right, right,” Colby stammered, nodding quickly.

He and a few of his guys dragged Fidel and his crew, who were practically dead weight, out of the room.

Korbin forced a smile. “Mr. Bryant, it’s quiet now.”

Stefar nodded, flicking some ash from his cigarette. “Anything going on lately?”

Korbin’s face tightened, like he just remembered something. “Actually, yeah. Someone from Mound City showed up.”

“Oh?” Stefan’s interest piqued.

Korbin had been his eyes and ears inside the Tiger Head Society.

From the look on Korbin’s face, something was definitely up.

Stefan glanced over at Margery, frowning. “It’s late. Why are you still here? You should get some rest.”

Margery, reading the room, realized Stefan and Korbin needed to talk. “I’ll get going then…”

“Just go.” Stefan waved her off, impatient.

Gavin stood up, too. “Stefan, I should probably head out, too. We’re both in River City, so we can catch up anytime.”

Stefan chuckled, “What, you didn’t have enough to drink tonight?”

“No, I’m good. Just seeing you after all these years is enough,” Gavin smiled.

Stefan nodded. “Alright. Go ahead. And hey, if anything comes up, you know how to reach me.”

After Gavin left, Korbin dismissed the girls from the room. It was just the two of them now.

Stefan lit a cigarette, his voice calm. “So, who from Mound City?”

Korbin took a deep breath. “The Prescott family sent someone.”

Stefan’s eyes narrowed. He thought back to Seabar Tower, to Simon, who’d had his eye on Nina. That didn’t end well for him, getting hacked to pieces.

Korbin said, “Yeah. And that’s not all. Sean Alcott, the head of the Dragon Sea Chamber of Commerce’s Mound City branch, came along”

The Dragon Sea Chamber of Commerce was one of the nine factions that broke off from Shadow Dragon Hall. Stefan was planning to use the Tiger Head Society as a stepping stone to get to them.

And now a high-ranking guy from the Chamber showed up.

“From what I hear, the Chamber’s Mound City branch and the Prescott family are pretty tight. And word is, Sean’s here in River City to start paving the way for something against the Marevia Consortium.” Korbin paused. “The Chamber and the Marevia Consortiur are rivals.
