“Ms. Sara Stewart, please sign this contract personally.” Ethan’s voice wasn’t loud, but it carried a sincere, respectful tone that cut through the room.
The entire hall fell silent.
Everyone’s face shifted in shock, each with a different reaction.
Micah looked stunned, his eyes darting to Sara.
Hewitt was completely lost-dumbfounded, frozen in place.
When Ethan walked past him and headed for Sara, Hewitt was already bewildered. One question after another raced through his mind.
Now, seeing Ethan offer the contract to Sara, Hewitt went blank and stood there motionless.
Frazier and Philip snapped their heads around, staring hard at Sara.
Philip’s eyes behind his glasses were wide with disbelief-shocked, confused, and suspicious.
Chuck and Audrey were stunned and overjoyed. They gaped at the scene, completely frozen.
Chuck had turned away earlier, unwilling to watch Hewitt take the spotlight. But the twist was so sudden that his mouth fell open, and he stared in total disbelief.
Only Stefan stayed calm. None of this surprised him.
He’d known exactly what would happen the second Ethan arrived.
Sara was also surprised. Her perfect face flickered with shock. She looked at Ethan and asked, “Ethan, you want me to sign this?”
“Of course.” Ethan nodded with a smile.
The first branch finally snapped out of their shock.
“Wait!” Zoey darted forward, furious and pale. She looked between Sara and Ethan and demanded, “Ethan, did you get this wrong? Why would she be the one to sign?”
“Yeah, Ethan! You told my dad to sign at the bidding event!” Hank rushed over, too. “Ethan, my husband runs the Stewart Group-he’s the eldest son!” Celeste added quickly.

“Will you
knock it off? Can’t you hear Ethan? He asked for my daughter by name!” Chuck stepped in, blocking the first branch. “I told you-my daughter earned this partnership. You have no claim to it. Stop causing a scene and let her sign.”
“Chuck, this is too important to be a mistake. We need the truth.” Hewitt stepped forward, took a deep breath, and asked Ethan, “Is there some kind of misunderstanding? I’m the one who should sign.”
“Yes, Ethan, this has to be a mistake!” Zoey said. “Sara was in a coma for six months-she just woke up! How could she possibly have facilitated this collaboration with the Reed family? It was never her turn to sign this contract.”
Hank said, “Ethan, just let my dad sign it.”
“Hold on a second.” Stefan’s voice cut in sharply. He stepped forward with a stern look. “Why can’t my fiancée sign? If Ethan wants her to, that means he trusts her ability. What does her coma have to do with it? Frankly, she’s more capable half-asleep than any of you are awake.”
