Whoosh!
A figure flashed forward in an instant, throwing a punch as fast as lightning to intercept Nina's attack, even forcing Nina to tumble back onto the sofa.
Nina focused her gaze and saw the gaunt, gray-robed old man now standing in front of Simon.
"A Ninth-Rank Hidden Sect cultivator?"
Nina's face instantly turned ashen, complete despair washing over her.
Simon's expression darkened, his voice icy. "You wretched woman! Still thinking of killing me? Hunter, tie up her hands and feet for me, strip her clothes off! I want her to submit under me right here in front of everyone! I'll even record a video to send to the Reed family later. Let's see if the Reeds would rather have their family scandal exposed, or agree to betroth her to me!"
Hunter's face turned cold. He strode towards Nina with large steps, the powerful pressure of a Ninth-Rank Hidden Sect cultivator radiating from him.
"No! You... stay away, don't come any closer..." Nina's voice trembled as she desperately tried to shrink back, tears of humiliation welling in her eyes, her face etched with despair.
Simon's intentions were utterly vile—he wanted to publicly violate her. She would rather die than suffer such disgrace.
"Ms. Reed!" Janet, who was already restrained, also wept, her voice choked with sobs, unable to speak.
Just as the two women sank into deep despair, suddenly—
A series of utterly ill-timed claps rang out.
Everyone turned to look. Stefan, who had been as transparent as air and completely overlooked, wore a bright smile on his face as he spoke in an unhurried tone, "What skillful scheming! I never imagined that coming here to collect a debt, I'd stumble upon such an exciting show."
Simon frowned. He had thought Stefan was one of Korbin's underlings.
If not, why was this random guy still standing there? Wasn't Korbin taking care of things?
He shot a cold glance at Korbin.
Korbin's face paled with alarm. He glared furiously at Stefan and demanded, "Hey, who are you? You're not with Nina?"
"Of course not. I'm here to collect a debt," Stefan replied with a light laugh. "The upcoming scenes might be a bit too... spicy for my taste, and I really don't want to get involved in your affairs. So, just settle the debt, and I'll be on my way."
Stefan genuinely didn't want to stick around. He just wanted to get his money and leave.
As for playing the hero and saving the beauty...
Stefan really had no such inclination. He could see this involved struggles between aristocratic families in Mound City. Why would he stick his nose into that mess unless he had nothing better to do?
He also had no particular interest in watching a live-action adult drama unfold. That was why he spoke up, ready to take the money and go.
"Huh? You... are here to collect a debt from me?" Korbin finally caught on. He pointed at himself, disbelief in his voice.
