The Ex-Con Who Conquered the World novel Chapter 46

Barry's heart skipped a beat. He quickly said, "Mr. Lewis, the Apex Room is already occupied. However, the guests just went up, and they likely haven't even ordered yet. If you'll wait a moment, I'll speak to them about switching to another private room."

"No need for fuss. Let's go up together." Aaron's tone was calm, carrying absolute confidence.

Given his status in River City, whoever was inside the Apex Room would surely show him respect.

Soon, the group arrived on the top floor and stopped before an extravagantly decorated private suite.

Barry took the lead, not bothering to knock before pushing the door open.

Inside, Stefan, Nina, and Janet had just settled in and were sipping their water.

Nina was reviewing the menu when the door swung open without warning. Her expression darkened, a flicker of irritation crossing her features as she eyed Barry. "Who are you? Why didn't you knock?"

"I'm Barry Lawson, manager of Drizzlewood Retreat." Barry offered a polite smile. "Here's the situation—some distinguished guests have just arrived and specifically requested the Apex Room. Would you be so kind as to move to the adjacent Peak Chamber?"

"No." Nina's reply was cold and immediate.

Barry frowned, but he knew that anyone dining in the Apex Room likely held some standing. Keeping his patience, he explained, "Miss, the guests who have arrived are from the Lewis family of River City. I'm afraid you wouldn't want to offend them. Please reconsider."

"The Lewis family?" Nina let out a derisive laugh, unimpressed.

Beside her, Janet's temper flared. She slammed the table and stood up, snapping, "Get out now! If you upset her any further, you'll regret it!"

"You—" Barry stiffened at the sharp rebuke, then replied coldly, "I've tried to be reasonable. Since you refuse to cooperate, don't blame me for what happens next."

With that, he turned and walked out, his face grim.

As manager of Drizzlewood Retreat, Barry had long memorized River City's elite—who could be offended and who could not.

The retreat regularly hosted the city's upper class, but he had never seen Nina or her companions before.

They were complete strangers, unheard of in influential circles.

Once outside, Barry said indignantly, "Mr. Lewis, those people inside are utterly unreasonable. I tried talking politely and even mentioned your name, but they still refused and told me to get out!"
