The Ex-Wife's Triumph novel Chapter 253

When Bacchus and the other two returned home, Kingsley sat on the sofa, looking like a dark cloud had settled over him.

He looked up at the trio walking through the door, his voice devoid of emotion. "Did you enjoy your dinner?"

"Since you weren't there, of course we enjoyed it." The elder Mrs. Sherwood kept a straight face, unable to mask the anger in her eyes. If it weren't for all the chaos he had caused, she would have been enjoying family bliss a long time ago.

Bacchus sat down nearby and casually forwarded the video he had recorded on his phone to Kingsley, his tone teasing.

"The kid is smart and well-behaved, but Lucy's transformation is the most shocking. She's like a completely different person from before. If you want a happy family, you're going to have to work hard to win her back."

Kingsley clicked on the video. Watching Seven eat so obediently on the screen, his harsh tone instantly softened. "If you wanted to see him, you could have just done it openly. Why sneak around?"

"Hah, we were guarding against you. Have some self-awareness." The elder Mrs. Sherwood scoffed, mercilessly piercing his ego.

"I was afraid you'd tag along and ruin our peace."

She shifted the conversation, turning to Bacchus.

"You will continue going on blind dates tomorrow. You won't stop until you find someone suitable."

Bacchus smiled and nodded, deliberately exaggerating. "Understood. The heavy burden of expanding the Sherwood family tree rests entirely on my shoulders. Such a massive responsibility!"

"Keep this in mind," the elder Mrs. Sherwood said sternly. "You are the eldest Sherwood son. You have property and money; you're not some penniless nobody."

"Alright," Bacchus agreed.

Sitting off to the side, Kingsley hadn't said another word. His thumb swiped across his phone screen, replaying the video over and over, his eyes locked onto Seven, entirely unable to look away.

"Did he talk to you much?" he suddenly asked, a trace of undetectable nervousness in his voice.

"Not really. We don't know each other well, after all," Bacchus answered honestly, before adding,

"But he responded whenever we asked him a question. He's very polite."

Hearing this, the tight strings in Kingsley's chest relaxed just a fraction.
