The Extra Who Shouldn't Exist novel Chapter 387

Chapter 387: Chapter 387: Supressed Desires (2)

Evelyn’s golden eyes narrowed sharply, like a predator sensing weakness, her posture straightening. "She said you slept with her, didn’t you?"

Alex was shocked beyond words, eyes snapping back to hers, widening in stunned disbelief as color drained from his sharp features. He shot to his feet halfway. "Why—? Did she say something to you?!"

Evelyn smirked faintly, a sly, triumphant glint in her eyes as she tilted her head. "So I was right, huh."

Alex stammered, face flushing, hands gesturing wildly. "No... I mean... ye... No! No, that’s not—"

Evelyn waved a hand dismissively, chuckling. "Relax, I’m not interrogating you like some royal inquisitor."

Alex took a deep, steadying breath, shoulders slumping in defeat as he sank back onto the bed. "Yes, we slept together. Passionate night, no regrets on my end. And it seems like she didn’t want to meet me after that—avoiding me like the plague."

Evelyn nodded thoughtfully, golden hair swaying. "I figured as much. I would have done the same if I was in her place."

Alex looked at her curiously, leaning forward despite himself. "Why? What’s with you girls and your mood swings ?"

Evelyn put a finger on his lips again, warm and teasing, silencing him instantly. Her touch lingered. "That’s a secret. Locked away tighter than this door."

Alex became quiet, respecting the boundary, though his eyes sparkled with intrigue.

A long moment passed in heavy silence, the air thick with tension—the distant hum of banquet music seeping faintly through the walls.

Evelyn broke it, voice low and laced with raw, vulnerable feelings, golden eyes shimmering like molten gold. "You do know that I love you too, right? Have for longer than I care to admit."

Alex, at a loss for words, froze—his usual quick wit failing him. He searched her face, wanting to be brutally honest, no games.

"Yeah, I know," he admitted softly, voice steady. "And honestly, I don’t dislike you either. You’re fire and grace wrapped in one."

"It’s just... I’m already in a relationship. And I don’t think it will be fair to you if I don’t commit myself fully to one woman and just dangle false hope."

"So that’s all there is to it—clean boundaries."

Evelyn smiled faintly, a mix of sadness and admiration. "Looks like you at least have a decent character under that rogue exterior, huh."

Alex shouted indignantly, pointing at himself. "What do you take me for? Some scumbag like your brother?!"

Evelyn laughed softly, the sound melodic, easing the tension. "Don’t call him that—he’s family."

Alex pressed, grinning now. "But you do know I’m saying the truth, aren’t I? Straight shooter here."

Evelyn teased back, eyes twinkling. "Maybe you are, maybe not. Who’s to say?"

Alex frowned playfully. "What does that mean? Spill it."

"You don’t need to know that," she replied coyly, biting her lip.

Alex’s mouth twitched in amusement and frustration, murmuring under his breath, "Why is everyone stealing my dialogues these days? First Alicia, now you too."
