"Shut up, stop crying."
Aaron Hearne commanded coldly.
The three-year-old child paused in her crying, glanced up, and then cried even louder.
"Wah wah wah!"
A flash of panic and frustration crossed Aaron’s eyes.
"Stop crying!"
Seeing that she continued to cry without pause, Aaron sighed helplessly, grabbed from behind, and swiftly lifted the little one off the ground.
Magnolia Hearne’s crying stopped as she realized she’d fallen into a broad embrace.
Aaron Hearne moved quickly through the forest with her, arriving in the blink of an eye at a Blossom Valley. He waved his hand, and flower petals danced in the air, gathering into a fox-shaped silhouette that swirled swiftly around Magnolia.
Magnolia had long stopped crying, her big eyes sparkling as she watched the petals twirl, reaching out her small hands to grab them.
Aaron deftly flicked his fingers, and the petal-formed fox dashed away.
With another flick of his fingers, the little one in his arms floated up.
As she moved, she quickly followed the fox into the sea of flowers.
Soon, the cheerful laughter of a child rang joyfully through the valley.
At sunset, Aaron returned to the secluded mountain home where Emily Hearne and Isaac Harper resided, carrying the soundly sleeping child on one arm.
Emily seemed to have been expecting him, and upon seeing her daughter in Aaron’s arms, she merely raised an eyebrow.
Aaron pressed his lips together and passed her sleeping child over directly,
"Yours to take back."
Emily let out a snort of laughter, yet still reached out to take the child, who, upon smelling the familiar scent, shifted slightly in Emily’s arms to a more comfortable position, sleeping sweetly.
As Emily was about to remove a petal stuck on her daughter’s head, a delicate jade fox unexpectedly fell into the little one’s arms.
When Emily looked up, Aaron had already vanished, leaving only a faint echo of his voice on the wind—
"A gift for meeting."
Scarlett Jennings’s divine soul quietly observed, her lips curling up unconsciously. Shortly, the space-time before her shifted again.
The nation lay in ruins, invaded by foreign enemies, and Isaac Harper died in the ensuing chaos.
Emily lost her beloved, her eyes no longer held the tenderness they once had.
She took Magnolia back to the Hearne Clan’s ancestral grounds.
This time, Scarlett’s divine soul didn’t follow them.
Her soul made its way to the battlefield where amidst the blazing fires and scorched earth, she saw another familiar figure—
Ivan.
To be precise, it was Ivan of this timeline.
He stood in a jade-blue brocade robe, so out of place on the desolate battlefield.
On his androgynous face was an expression mingling earthly compassion and silence.
Scarlett’s divine soul instinctively drifted closer to him, but the next moment, she unexpectedly locked eyes with Ivan.
Scarlett was taken aback,
He could see her!
Yet in his eyes, there was a hint of unfamiliarity and scrutiny; evidently, he didn’t recognize her.
With surprise or shock flitting through his eyes, as Scarlett was about to speak, the Ivan before her suddenly vanished, replaced by a sight she recognized—Ivan adorned in an exquisitely embroidered traditional Tang suit.
Unlike before, this Ivan was someone she’d encountered once, with his foxy eyes carrying a hint of allure, he looked at her, clicked his tongue,
"Let’s go, I’ll take you back."
Scarlett was somewhat surprised.
Not only could he see her divine soul, but he was also here specifically to take her back?
"How did you know I was here?"
