“Rules? Hah! I make the rules on Centria Planet!” Being stopped over and over, Maddox temper finally snapped. He reached out and shoved at Desmond. “Move!”
Desmond did not budge an inch. With a swift motion, he caught Maddox’s wrist and held it in place. The grip was firm enough to stop him completely, yet controlled so it wouldn’t injure him.
Maddox winced, his expression changing. The bodyguards behind him immediately stepped forward.
At the same time, Yale gave a subtle signal. His two guards advanced as well.

“What the hell was that?!”
The sudden turn of events stunned everyone at the entrance. The place fell into dead silence.
Desmond, Melton, and Skylar froze as well. They exchanged glances, each seeing the same confusion in the others’ eyes.
Desmond and the rest had only arrived not long ago. They had never witnessed the farm’s defensive measures before and knew nothing of its hidden safeguards.
Even Melton, who had seen some of the farm’s power before and knew Elizabeth had set up certain “defenses,” had never actually witnessed them in action. He had no idea what form they would take.
He certainly had not expected a completely invisible barrier.
The observing young elites sucked in sharp breaths and instinctively stepped back, staring uneasily at their fallen companions, then at the seemingly empty edge of the farm that had just sent people flying.
“W-what just happened?” A girl named Whitney Leigh whispered, her voice trembling slightly as she asked her companion, Sergio Carroll.
Sergio narrowed his eyes, studying the area carefully, then slowly shook his head. “I’m not sure… It looks like some kind of invisible barrier.”
Curiosity soon overcame fear.
A bolder young man named Xavier Ramsey stepped forward. His family specialized in advanced materials research, and he was deeply interested in unknown technologies. Carefully, he extended his hand and reached toward the spot where the others had
crashed.
His fingers touched something a few feet beyond the edge of the strawberry fields. It was cool and smooth, with a faint elasticity. yet completely invisible.
Before he could examine it further, a faint crackling sound snapped through the air. A small surge of electricity shot through his fingertips.
“Hiss!” Xavier jerked his hand back, shaking his numb fingers, his face filled with shock. “There’s electricity. It really is a barrier. And it’s charged!”
“No way. A transparent energy barrier with a defensive electric field?” Another young man familiar with mlitary technology. Fred Sanchez, exclaimed, “Since when does the kingdom have equipment this insane?!”
“You don’t know anything,” Xavier shot back, though his eyes were shining even brighter, as if he had just found a treasure “if something like this really existed, it would be a top military secret. It would go straight to the main fleet or core bases. How could it end up as a fence for a private farm?”
As soon as he said that, realization dawned on everyone.
