had heard Tyson and Clara’s conversation very clearly earlier, so she already knew what had happened between them.

But she stayed silent.

She planned to let Tyson handle this himself.

At that moment, Tyson finally moved.

He walked toward Nathaniel. His pace wasn’t fast. But Nathaniel became more and more terrified with every step.

Nathaniel stumbled backward until he hit a tree behind him.

He wanted to run. But his legs had gone weak, and he could barely move.

Tyson stopped in front of him and looked him directly in the eyes.

“Nathaniel,” he said calmly. “Long time no see.”

Nathaniel’s lips trembled, but no words came out.

Tyson gently patted his shoulder like old friends meeting again.

His voice remained calm. “Do you know what my last thought was before I passed out?”

Nathaniel shook his head stiffly.

Tyson said quietly, “At that moment, I thought it didn’t matter if I died, as long as my teammates survived.”

He slowly removed his hand from Nathaniel’s shoulder.

“After I woke up, I kept telling myself maybe you had no choice. Maybe there was some reason. Maybe you didn’t mean to do it.”

Then he stepped back and stared into Nathaniel’s eyes.

“But now I understand.” His voice turned colder. “You had a choice. You just chose yourself. You’re simply this kind of person.*

Then Tyson turned around and walked back to Clara’s side.

“Captain Mitchell.” Tyson looked at Bukowski coldly. “I think you owe Clara and me an explanation.”

Nathaniel panicked immediately. “What explanation do you want? You’re not even part of the team anymore! What right do you have to interfere in our squad’s business…”

“Shut up!” Bukowski barked sharply.

Bukowski was furious about what Nathaniel had done too.

But Nathaniel was strong, especially when it came to scouting.

More importantly, Nathaniel was his wife’s younger brother.

At that moment, Olivia squeezed through the crowd and rushed over to Clara, hugging her tightly.

“Clara! You’re alive! Thank God! I thought you…” Her voice cracked with tears.

Felix also walked over and stood nearby, his eyes red as he struggled to speak.

Held in Olivia’s arms, Clasa felt conflicted as she looked at the two of them.

When they ran earlier, they hadn’t looked back.

But they had hesitated.

At that life-and-death moment, they had hesitated for one brief second.

She didn’t know whether to be grateful for that hesitation, or remember that they still shose to turn away

Her voice sounded hoarse as she said, “I’m okay. Luckily, Ms. Schofield and the others saved me.”

Elizabeth smiled brightly. “No need to thank us. You’re Tyson’s friend, so of course you’re our friend too.”

Tyson gave Elizabeth a grateful glance before turning his cold stare back toward Bukowski, waiting for an answer.

Bukowski’s expression became ugly.
