Chapter 513 Next Plan
Soft warm light shone over the eggshells, making the tiny speckles on them seem almost alive.
Grow well, little ones.
Elizabeth lightly patted one of the incubators, her eyes filled with anticipation.
Once those eggs hatched, her ranch would finally have a self–sustaining breeding population
After finishing everything, Elizabeth walked out of the incubation room and stood by the ranch fence: She looked at the Cluckoo Chickens inside the enclosure, which had mostly settled down and were now curiously exploring their new home. Then she glanced toward the empty but fully equipped duck house, pig farm, and cattle pens nearby.
Stretching lazily, she let out a long, satisfied sigh.
The ranch was finally open for business.
Next up, it was time for the Crackshell Crabs.
As a crustacean species unique to the waste planets, Crackshell Crabs had highly specialized environmentar requirements.
They needed large areas of water for movement and feeding, but they also required dry land where they could build nests and rest.
However, during the ranch’s early planning stages, Elizabeth had mainly focused on raising land animals. Aquaculture hadn’t even been considered yet.
Looks like I’ll have to build a dedicated habitat just for them.
Returning to her workshop, Elizabeth unfolded a holographic map of the farm in front of her.
The map clearly marked all completed zones.
There were the poultry facilities in the northwest corner, the grazing area slightly west of center, and the vast stretches of spiritual fields across the eastern side.
Her gaze swept over the map before finally landing on an undeveloped sloped area in the lower–right corner.
She repeatedly circled the area with her light pen, clearly weighing her options.
୮
That was the spot she wanted.
The pen finally stopped over a gently sloping section southeast of the spiritual fields.
And the choice wasn’t random at all.
First, the location was far from both the residential zone and the primary work areas.
Although Crackshell Crabs possessed extremely high economic and nutritional value, they were still dangerous creatures.
Their powerful pincers could easily shear through ordinary metal.
If one ever escaped, the distance would provide valuable buffer time for emergency response.

Second, the area received abundant sunlight. Located on the southeastern side of the ranch with virtually no obstructions, it was perfect for the crabs‘ growth needs
Crackshell Crabs required regular sun exposure to promote sher! calcification, making sunlight essential to their development
Most importantly, the terrain here sat slightly lower than the spiritual fields.
That made it easy to divert water directly from the irrigation channels.
And thanks to the elevation difference, the area could even achieve partial gravity–fed irrigation without additional pumping
systems.
After long–term nourishment from the Spiritbound Circle, the farm’s soil had gradually evolved into low–grade spiritual fields.
Not only did those fields greatly improve crop growth, but the spiritual water seeping through the soil also contained faint traces of spiritual energy that produced extraordinary benefits for living organisms.
Currently, the spiritual water flowed through the irrigation system before eventually collecting in the farm reservoir for daily use.
As the spiritual fields continued expanding, the amount of collected spiritual water had increased so much that they had recently begun considering enlarging the reservoir.
Now, this surplus could be perfectly repurposed for raising Crackshell Crabs, maximizing resource efficiency.
With the location selected, the next issue became obvious. How was she supposed to keep Crackshell Crabs from escaping?
“Crackshell Crab’s adult shell hardness: 7.2 on the Mohs scale (equivalent to quartz)
“Pincer cutting force: Approximately 1,800 newtons.
“Special ability: Weak psychic perception.
“Behavior traits: Highly skilled at digging and climbing.”
Looking over the data, even Elizabeth couldn’t help clicking her tongue in disbelief.
Back on Earth, anti–escape methods for crab farming usually involved smooth interior barriers like calcium–plastic panels, aluminum sheets, or thick plastic film.
But against mutant interstellar creatures? Those methods were practically worthless.
୮
With the strength of a Crackshell Crab’s pincers, cutting through ordinary metal plates would be effortless, let alone barriers that relied on smooth surfaces to stop climbing.
