The sound cut through the quiet room, landing on everyone’s nerves.

Charlie looked at him. “Go on.”
Brandon hesitated before speaking: 21 heard the Fifth Military is planning to use the Swarmborn against Tycoon Farm”
Charlie’s pupils shrank instantly. “What?”
“The information hasn’t been confirmed yet. I only heard it from a friend.” Brandon inwered his voice even further. It sounds like they’re planning to let the Swarmborn do the dirty work and take out Tycoon Farm.”
Charlie remained silent for a long time.
He stared at the sunlight outside the window and the bustling city skyline in the distance. Suddenly, he felt as though something was emerging from the darkness,
No. It wasn’t approaching anymore. It was already here.
“This has nothing to do with us.” He finally spoke. “We don’t know anything. And neither do you.”
Brandon nodded. “Understood.”
Fifth Military Headquarters. Chief of Staff’s Office.
Gregory sat behind his desk. A holographic display in front of him showed the newly drafted planetary transfer agreement.
He had been staring at it for a full ten minutes, reading every word over and over as if he were making sure of something, or perhaps simply delaying the inevitable.
Night had already fallen outside. The office was lit only by a single desk lamp whose dim yellow glow split his face into sharp band of light and shadow.
There was a knock at the door.
“Come in.”
Weston pushed the door open and walked in, carrying a folder. His expression wasn’t encouraging.
“Chief Gregory, Legal has reviewed the agreement. There aren’t any legal loopholes. Once you sign it, we can deliver it to Tycoon Farm tomorrow.”
Gregory didn’t take it. He simply stared at the agreement for a moment before asking, “Has everyone been taken care of?”
“Yes. Evander and the other five were transferred from the farm to the Military Inspection Committee this afternoon. Once the paperwork is complete, they’ll be released. The commission didn’t make things difficult for them, and Gunther’s injuries have already been treated.” Weston paused. “But Gunther’s military career is over. The Military Inspection Committee ruled it a semes disciplinary violation and recommended a dishonorable discharge along with referral to military court. As for Evander and the others, they’ll be demoted and reassigned.”
Gregory tapped the desk twice Tap. Tap.
He didn’t comment on the outcome. He simply picked up his pen and signed the agreement

“That mining planet,” Gregory said calmly as he set down the pen, “will stay in Tycoon Farm’s hands for now. Once the Swarmb wipe them out, it’ll naturally return to us.”
Weston’s eyelid twitched.
He knew exactly what Gregory meant.
He had personally contacted the Swarmborn.
Their asking price had been steep. They demanded a section of the Kingdom’s eastern frontier defense deployment map.
If that map ever fell into the Swarmborn’s hands, the consequences would be unimaginable.
But he didn’t dare refuse.
Gregory was the kind of man who never forgot a grudge and never played by the rules.
“Mr. Erhart, what’s on your mind?” Gregory’s voice suddenly grew noticeably sharper.
Gregory snapped back to his senses and quickly shook his head. “Nothing. I was just wondering when the Swarmborn are going
make their move.”
Gregory stood up and walked over to the window.
Outside, the night had thickened into something ink-black, and streetlights flickered faintly in the darkness far below.
